Overall Career
Allen Sutton "Dixie" Sothoron was born on April 27, 1893, in Bradford, Ohio. Sothoron was 21 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 17, 1914, with the St. Louis Browns.
Sothoron had an 11-year career as a right handed pitcher. He finished with a 91-100 record, 576 Ks and a 3.31 ERA. Sothoron threw a spitball, and was among those permitted to continue to use the outlawed pitch after 1919.
After his playing days, Sothoron managed in the minors and coached for both St. Louis teams, briefly taking over as Browns manager in 1933
