He would play with the Browns through the middle of the 1949 season, when the Red Sox acquired the 1948 All-Star outfielder. Zarilla played well in his first season for the Sox, playing in 124 games and putting up a line of .281/.352/.422 with 45 extra base hits.

He was traded to the Chicago White Sox for the 1951 season, but would return to the Red Sox in Late August of 1952 (his third team for that season, as he started with the White Sox and then went back to the Browns). Zarilla got into 21 games in September of 1952, putting up a line of .183/.269/.317. In 1953, Zarilla played a defensive replacement role for the Sox, getting into 57 games but only getting 67 At Bats. He batted .194/.333/.224 in what would be his final season in the majors.
