Trivia
- On April 13th, the Red Sox unveiled their new mascot, Wally the Green Monster.
- For a few games in 1997, the Sox showcased two alternate caps, which differed in color from the normal blue ones. One was white with a red "B" and a blue bill. This one was worn perhaps only once. The other was a red cap with a red bill, very similar to the caps worn in by the 1975 team, with the lone difference being the "B", which was white in the 1997 version. This red cap was worn more often than the white cap.
