1967 World Series
From SoSH
During Yaz's incredible triple-crown winning year, the Sox nearly completed the impossible dream. Going from a 72-90 record (26 games back) in 1966 (ninth in the AL only surpassing the MFY), the Sox managed to compile a 92-70 record in 1967, barely surpassing the Detroit Tigers by one game in an extremely close "come from behind" pennant race. The 1967 Red Sox faced the St. Louis Cardinals with home field advantage only to face a heart-wrenching World Series loss at the end of an unbelievable season.
