Obviously, the key game of the Series against Team IBM is this evening. Will an injured Boomer be able to persevere? Who will replace him in relief in a set-up role (assuming that Young Roger Pappelbon will be ready to resume tomorrow)? (Note: At least Timlin did not pitch last evening.) Will Wong realize the ramifications and cave, or will he continue to pitch seamlessly? How will Torre use his quivering bullpen before The Fruitbat? If Rivera is needed for two-pus innings this evening, what does that bode for the next two games?
As I stated on another thread, after having experienced the intensely disappointing post-pennant seasons of 1968, 1976, and 1987, I am truly grateful that each and every game in this particular postseason down the stretch will matter.
