When I tried to repair it (nothing major, it's just a tool you run) the data was screwed up enough that it crashed everything. Further attempts at repair the data only reinforced the belief that it was a corruption somewhere in the database. Additionally at this point I engaged some techs from our hosting company who gave me a second opinion, agreeing that it was likely a scrog in the data.
I'm a simple guy so figure we would roll back to the previous night's backup. At worst we would have lost 24 hours of data. Upon trying unsuccessfully three times (at 3 hours a pop!) to restore the data the running guess between myself and the host's techs was that the data had been corrupt for some time and it was preventing the restore from happening, much as it did the repair operation.
(15:49:54) TPQ: At that point I had them restore everything (again) and empty and rebuild tables by hand. The posts table was the biggest suspect so unfortunately thats why we have no posts at the moment.

I would like to personally re-iterate part of the ground rules for sosh
1a) Please take the time to put some thought and substance into your posts/replies. SoSH has maintained a reputation as one of the most well informed and introspective Red Sox message boards on the 'net. Take some pride in what you're writing and you'll help to solidify that reputation.
1b) Please don't create unnecessary noise on the Red Sox page with one-liners and needless filler.
The dopes will be posting more on this over the next few days but while there were no posts here I did want to take this opportunity to reiterate that statement as we're essentially starting with a blank slate. Everyone please remember that the board is only as good as we all make it.
