Looks like it's Jay Fiedler time in NY

-NEW YORK (AP) -- Jets quarterback Chad Pennington will miss the
rest of the season because of a torn right rotator cuff, The
Associated Press learned Monday night.

- An MRI exam showed Pennington tore his rotator cuff in Sunday's
26-20 overtime loss to Jacksonville. The NFL Network originally
reported the injury, the second time Pennington has had this tear
in less than a year.

Career ender?

Fiedler also got hurt in that game. Rotoworld's reporting he'll be out for six weeks. At the moment, Brooks Bollinger is their starting QB.

What an injury week for the AFC East.

I despise the Jets, but I hope not. Pennington is a class kid, with a real good head. I hopehe can bounce back from this. But I have a feeling he may not. He had a very weak arm to start with.

Yeah, he shouldnt have even been playing this year. His arm was weak and he was back well before he should have been. I hate the Jets, but feel for the guy...

So I was working at the Raiders game this past week and heard some interesting comments about the Jets, one from Moss, who had nothing but positives to say about Pennington. He thought Pennington has to be dealing with some major arm problems, since Pennington would overthrow him in practice. He said Pennington never had issues with the deep ball back then and doesn't look like the same player now. (EDIT: this was all earlier in the week, before the latest injury)

Anyway, I know its impossible to throw a new system at a QB in season, but with Fiedler also being injured, I've heard that they are trying to make a deal soon for either Billy Volek (who asked to be dealt this past summer) and Patrick Ramsey (yikes).

As a Pats fan/Jet Hater I'd be thrilled if they got Ramsey. He's awful. Got all the tools physically, but mentally just can't do it.

Volek would scare me in NY. I've had lots of chances to watch him here in TN, and he's a good young QB. He's got a good arm, very accurate on the deep ball, he doesn't make a lot of dumb throws- and he pretty much tore up the league over the last few weeks of last seaosn when filling in for McNair.

So for me it's Volek (Yikes) and Ramsey (Yahoo!)

I'm not even sure he has the physical tools. He throws a terrible deep ball.

Didn't the Jets new OC, Heimerdinger, come over from the Titans? So Volek would at least have some familiarity with the offensive system.

Pennington's gonna be able to throw it 20-30 MPH after all of his injuries...

Living in Fort Lauderdale I can hear that song in my sleep sometimes. I loved it last year when they were so bad that Dolphins fans would just shake there heads and say "the Pats are the best and we suck". They actually said that, it was great.

Given how injury-prone McNair has been the last few years, I doubt the Titans would be willing to trade Volek.

Eh. You left out Tim Couch, Art Schlister, and Ryan Leaf.

I'm expecting a call to Vinnie T has already been made.

This is a smart (and fairly obvious) move for the Jets. He's been working out all season, in hopes of getting a call. He knows Herm. He knows NY. He knows the personnel. True, he doesn’t know all of Heimerdingers offense, but give him a week or two and he will.

Still say there is cause for significant worry for Jets fans, this should give them more hope at least than Brooks Bollinger or Jesse Palmer....

Let's see how long Vinny lasts since the blocking appears to have been so good that 2 QB's have gone down (especially since Vinny is about as mobile as cement)
