Below is the first cut of the Pedro picture for the Truck.

 

 

Thoughts?

 

My only main idea is to sharpen the face.

What is this? A picture for ants? How can we be expected to teach children about AIDS and the Red Sox... if they can't even see the mural?

 

The picture needs to be at least three times bigger than this!

My main point was that it's really hard to make any judgement with a picture that small. The head looks like a blotch with a few dots on it.

 

Does the artist who created it have a larger proof?

It gets blurred if I  enlarge it, so for now, no.

 

Sharpening the facial features is one thing we're definitely doing though,

I don't see an aura surrounding Pedro. Not even a halo.

 

Otherwise it looks pretty good.

Can you put a red sox-font "#45" next to the signature after it's moved to the mound?

It definitely wants Fenway green over 'who's your daddy' blue. The 45 would help and I agree on the signature going to the mound. Would love to see the version with more face detail when it's ready!

This is a better idea than moving it down. The composition is essentially horizontal and that conforms to the expected movement of the action depicted (i.e. where the ball he is throwing is going to go). That space is essentially background anyway, so putting another important compositional element there makes better use of the available space.

 

By contrast if the signature is moved to the mound you are stacking the elements of your composition vertically in an attenuated horizontal format, which doesn't make visual sense.

In the facial detail you gotta get the pursed, puffed lips in there somehow.  That was classic Pedro.
