I was having lunch in a bar the other day that had NBAtv on, showing past all-star weekend stuff. I had either forgot, or more likely never realized, that Ray Allen and Kobe Bryant were rookies the same year. Also, they competed in the same all-star contest that rookie year...

pretty impressive that the nba found a way to try to be innovative and made all star saturday night even worse with this east vs west crap

This is what happens when Brooklyn is allowed to have a team.

Spoiler
The need to find a way to back up the truck and get Kobe in the SD contest. It's a win-win. Good for ratings, and maybe he'll get injured.

James White is my favorite KNicks player now, and he can miss every dunk. Great props

Posted 16 February 2013 - 10:25 PM

#11
Posted 16 February 2013 - 10:26 PM
he msises 4 or 5 dunks and still gets a 50?
The scoring is messed up.

So this is pretty much Green's contest to win. The question is what type of foodstuff will be involved in his clinching dunk.

Gerald Green has this.
Seriously though, why isn't LeBron/Westbrook/Jeff Green/D-Wade in this shit?

#19
Posted 16 February 2013 - 10:39 PM
James White gets 32 points for not making a dunk ... and Kenneth Faried gets a 37 for doing a 360 alley-oop dunk. Okkk.

THIS SHIT IS LAME. JUST END THESE STUPID CONTESTS AND THE NFL PRO-BOWL.
#21
Posted 16 February 2013 - 10:44 PM
Green already won with his first dunk. Everything since has just been making everyone else feel better.
#22

Clearly what this contest needs is a Russian judge.

NESN-esque production values. Barkley is dying over there.

I never watch the all star stuff. There's usually a 3 minute summary on SportsCenter that gives you everything you wanted to know.
Having said that, I watched part of the D-league all star game yesterday afternoon. I was hoping to get a better look at some young players. But there was so much showboating and so little defense played that it was impossible to determine if any of those guys could make a meaningful contribution to an NBA team.

Forgot this is the LA v. Miami show.
#37

How do you advertise an 8:00 start time and start at 8:50? Even the Super Bowl doesn't delay its start this dramatically.

Note to NBA: starting the All-Star game on a frigid Sunday night at close to 9pm in the East when quite frankly, most people are probably snoozing until a pile of blankets probably is not a very good marketing strategy.

This entire weekend has pretty much been the definition of bad marketing strategy.

Score 50 for any play in which Wade tears his ACL.
