It's the Year of the Snake, but rats (leaks) and tats rule the Jet land.

More pressing however, is to quickly find a GM & get ready for the draft. In order to do that however, the new FO must setup a strategy for all FAs in 2013. Cimini has the list:

http://espn.go.com/b...-agent-class-13

Unrestricted > my choice to keep/kick:

  • S Yeremiah Bell > keep
  • DT Mike DeVito > keep
  • PK Nick Folk > keep
  • RB Shonn Greene > kick
  • FB Lex Hilliard > kick
  • TE Dustin Keller > kick*
  • S LaRon Landry > keep
  • G Brandon Moore > keep
  • WR Chaz Schilens > kick
  • G Matt Slauson > keep
  • LB Bryan Thomas > keep

Restricted:

  • TE Jeff Cumberland ($540k) > non-tender
  • RT Austin Howard ($540k) > tender
  • LB Josh Mauga ($540k) > non-tender
  • LS Tanner Purdum ($540k) > non-tender

*The biggest dilemma has to be Keller. He is a dependable target in an offense that severely lacks talent, but bot sure if Jets will compete in the open market for his services.

So most GMs aren't lining up to take over an organization where you can't pick your coach, that is way over the cap, has no QB, and owned by a buffoon?

http://profootballta...urned-jets-too/

As the Jets try to hire a new General Manager, the list of guys who don’t want the job is almost as long as the list of the guys who do.

Previously, Tom Heckert and Bill Polian said “thanks” and then “no thanks.” Now, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Ravens assistant G.M. Eric DeCosta also has passed on the opportunity to interview for the job.

I don't care for the guy much, but Frank Caliendo is doing a top 10 clown season thing on ESPN now, or might have already happened. I DVR'd it.

Looks like we have a taker: http://profootballta...n-jets-g-m-job/

Biography:

Tom Gamble is in his 24th NFL season and his seventh year with the 49ers. On February 4, 2011, Gamble was promoted to Director of Player Personnel after having served as the Director of Pro Personnel for the previous seven years in San Francisco.

During his time in the NFL, Gamble has helped build nine playoff teams – five with Indianapolis and four with Philadelphia. Prior to his arrival in San Francisco, Gamble served as a college scout for the Colts from 1998 to 2004 under veteran NFL executive Bill Polian.

Gamble originally entered the NFL as an assistant in the player personnel department of the Philadelphia Eagles in 1988. He stayed with the Eagles through 1994, serving as a college scouting administrator, area scout, contract negotiator, and later served as the director of pro scouting.

From 1995 to 1996, Gamble served as a defensive assistant/quality control coach with the New York Jets. He then worked as a part-time college scout for the Carolina Panthers before serving as a pro scout for the Baltimore Ravens during the 1997 season

Just a guess but Player Personnel handles players and Pro handles the people that work with the players.

I think that most teams have a guy in charge of scouting pro players (ie other team practice squads, street free agents, trade options and offseason free agents), while another person is in charge of the college ranks (ie the draft).

Player personnel may cover both

Yes, it appears after the promotion he was in charge of both college and pro personnel departments.

The 49ers announced Friday that Tom Gamble was promoted to director of player personnel.
"We're very fortunate to have a guy with the wide range of experience that Tom possesses," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said. "As good as he is at what he does professionally, he's an even better person." While working closely with Baalke, Gamble now will oversee both the college and pro personnel efforts

The hits keep coming.

Fans are now realizing that the PSL's they purchased are a complete ripoff and as one guys said, "It's cheaper to go to road games or buy tickets on stubhub". Fan's are attempting to sell the PSL's at a third of the face value and are not getting any takers. The next likely step is PSL owners defaulting on the payments, and then the Jets would have to decide whether or not to sue their own fans.

Fuck the fans on this one though. They were idiots for paying in the first place. Who in their right mind spends $700 a ticket per game on a long term deal? What is their complaint? The team isn't as good/ Mark Sanchez is a fraud? All the signs were there. You don't buy a season ticket or PSL's for one season or when the teams good.

More info: http://espn.go.com/n...or-tony-sparano

And from the same piece:

The Jets also may lose defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. The Buffalo Bills, under newly hired coach Doug Marrone, requested permission Monday to speak with Pettine about the same position, sources said. Permission has yet to be granted. Pettine, too, has an expiring contract.

So it seems they will have a lot of new faces in the coaching staff.

We've come full circle.

So much of what has happened with this team the last half dozen years -- Favre, then Rex, the continuing circus -- can be viewed as an economically rational response to the needs to build and finance a new crib.

Whether and when the Jets break out of this will depend on if and when Woody checks himself into the Danny Snyder clinic.

Listening to the Rex n Woody show.

Rex sees this as a new beginning.

and will be involved in the GM selection process.

wants to refashion the offense to be as unpredictable/difficult to deal with as his defense is.

And Woody is clueless and is relying on Rex.

Yeah, because all you have to do is wave your hand to find a QB who can run that kind of show. The sort of matchup nightmare that elite offenses build can't happen solely with personnel or playcalling, you need someone at the line who can read the coverage and force the mismatch. There is no evidence that Sanchez can do this.

He said something along the lines of, "You people keep asking if its real, and I'm going to keep you guessing." Then he laughed, said he's had it for about 3 years, and joked if Mark keeps playing like last season he's going to get the number changed. He then said, again, that his wife is the most beautiful woman in the world and he loves her very much.

If that isn't the perfect response, Theo, I don't know what is.

Not only is there no evidence that Sanchez can do this and be Rex's all-weather QB, there is no evidence that Rex as HC can oversee the process.

After 4 years of on the job experience, Rex gave BS almost canned, answers. .

I'm frankly surprised that Woody as bought into Rex as deeply as he has.

And Zomp was right, the Rex handled the tat question very well. He said loves his wife. He didn;t throw her under the bus.

Did he leave out the part about the ad he placed inviting other men to fuck her?

The tattoo of course being the least relevant part of the entire presser. It's going to be the Rex and Woody show for next year by every indication.

Mark Sanchez didn’t even play last night, but was still branded a loser by one of America’s hottest women.

Swimsuit beauty Kate Upton slammed her former Jets boy toy in a tweet about last night’s college football title game, in which Alabama beat Notre Dame 42-14.

“It’s okay Notre Dame this happened to the Jets every week,” she tweeted in a slap at the Jets QB, who has in the past been romantically linked to the curvy model.

Upton has more than 654,000 Twitter followers.

Jets coach Rex Ryan said in his first public comments since the end of the season that he plans to reshape the team’s offense in his own image, making them more aggressive and physical offensively.

“I don’t think I’ve done as good a job of implementing who I am throughout this team,” Ryan said. “I want a physical, aggressive, attack-style of football team. Offense, defense and all that. . . . I don’t think I’ve done a good enough job of getting that through to the entire football team. Certainly I think it’s gotten through to defense and special teams. I don’t think it necessarily got through offensively. That’s what I want.”

He handled the question about his weirdass tat very well.

Doesn't change the fact that he got the weirdass tat.

The bigger problem is that he has no idea what to do with the offense. Every single year he says that he's going to be true to himself for a chance and get the offense running his way, but every year his way is different (more groundlier and poundlier; wait, more wildcat, wait more Sanchez, wait run the pistol!)
