SMU leaps to a 10-0 lead. The Fresno RT has been beat twice for sacks, one of them ending in a forced fumble that led to the SMU FG.

EDIT: Marcgus Hunt is dominating.

I'd love the Pats to take an athletic freak like this. He is still a bit raw but reminds me of Vollmer in his limited football skills.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing last night. It's important to keep in mind that he was going against a freshman right tackle though. The RT looked extremely overmatched, and I'm not sure that Hunt would have the same success against a better, more experienced right tackle. Most of the time, it seemed like he was just running past Fifita. He's definitely someone I'm going to keep an eye on though, heading into the combine and the Senior Bowl. For those that missed it.

Also, while you're passing time during the holidays, I suggest you read this piece by Plaschke on Marqise Lee. There was another article a while back on him, but this one had some nice quotes from those that are close to him. Even though he plays for USC, Lee is one of my favorite players in college football.

Western Kentucky with an incredibly stupid to go for it on 4th and 2 from 18 when a FG would have tied it and sent the game to OT

I didn't mind the decision to go for it, but the execution on the play was piss poor IMO. He didn't have to throw it there, since he had a receiver wide open in the flat that would've gotten them the yards for the first down. They had plenty of time to score the go ahead touchdown and had they gotten the first down, you would've liked their chances to do just that. To try to fit it in between several defenders was a terrible decision by the quarterback, given that he had a higher percentage throw that would've gotten them the first down. He might not have gone through his progression or may have locked in on that receiver though.

Whatever, it was a pretty decent, entertaining game. We finally get a steady flow of Bowl games now. It'll be nice.

Duke drives down the field with no problem to score a touchdown on the opening drive.

Extra point is BLOCKED, kicker grabs it and runs it in for 2.

8-0 Blue Devils.

edit: apparently they took the 2 off the board...

Duke adds a FG, then they block a punt and recover it in the end zone for a TD to make it 16-0. The Bearcats players and coaches look like a herd of deer in headlights.

And now, finally, Cinci's running game is gaining some traction.

Bush league? Fuck that. It was smart. It also carried a risk in that it moved the ball 5 yards closer to the uprights. But if I'm coaching in that bowl game, you can bet your ass I'm doing the exact same thing and won't give one-tenth of a shit what anyone thinks about it.

Especially if it works. Which, in this case, it did rather brilliantly.

And If the kicker doesn't like it, the solution is rather simple: Make the fucking field goal and stare me down as you're jogging off the field to the locker room, then ridicule me to the press after the game.

27 unanswered points for Cinci, and we're only halfway through the 3rd quarter. They've run the ball at will, whether on rushes from scrimmage or racking up massive YAC following short 5-10 yard screens and dump-offs. Duke had a nice goal-line stand to hold CInci to a FG, but on their ensuing possession Renfree threw a really bad pick on a floater that hit the safety in the letters and the Bearcats scored two plays later on a George Winn 46-yard scamper.

What the hell Duke? Chance to win your first bowl game in a hundred years and you fumble the ball away when you had a chipshot FG to take the lead, then give up a 95 yard TD to Zinzinnati?

UCLA looking like absolute shit so far. Just 46 total yards, including 4 rushing yards on 10 attempts. Plus 4 penalties for 25 yards.

14-0 Baylor.

Leaving aside the horror of sexual assault for the moment (if true), perhaps this is something that helps push Mack into retirement?

That was quite the can of whoop-ass Ohio opened up on LA-Monroe. Tyler Tettleton (Mickey's kid) completed 13 of 21 for 332 yards and a pair of TDs.

VA Tech-Rutgers kicks off in about 15 minutes.

Virginia Tech fumbles the second play from scrimmage. Logan Thomas recovers in the end zone but loses it trying to extend the ball out of the end zone to avoid the safety. Rutgers recovers for the TD. 7-0 the Future Big Ten team.

90 seconds for Nova to get them in FG range. For all the suck in Tech's offense, their D has been pretty solid.
