It's totally stupid. I wonder how many people on their way into a Packer game this year have thought "Oh shit, we're gonna miss kickoff!" only to get inside and wonder why the game hasn't started yet.

Worse, isn't it the other way around? I think the clock said 8:35 when it was 8:50? Which would mean they'd get in before the game and realize they'd missed half the first quarter.

Did you guys know NFLPA car service the people keep implying is free actually is $85 an hour?

Had no idea. So how does that work? Who pays?

No, the clock was 15 minutes fast.

And don't people have watches and cell phones nowadays?

Love the clip of the singing of Roll Out The Barrel. Anybody else here ever been to a game at Lambeau? Phenomenal experience. Every NFL fan should go once if at all possible.

You kinda have to accept before you go that there is NOTHING to do in Green Bay. Nothing. Even the Saturday night before a Sunday game is pretty dead. But game day there is the greatest.

What do you mean despite the fact that he caught the ball before he was hit? If that call was wrong it was wrong only because Nelson's helmet didn't make contact. But he definitely launched himself, and Bryant was definitely defenseless. From the official's angle, I'm sure it looked like either Nelson's helmet made contact, or his shoulder made contact with Bryant's head.

It wasn't a helmet hit. How can a receiver be defenseless when he catches the ball?
And besides, what do you expect Reggie Nelson to do? Let him make the catch? OR try to deck the shit out of him and hope he drops the ball (which he did), which resulted in a 15 yard penalty. You can't win as a defensive player.

I'm with you. The five yard zone within which you can make contact with a receiver is going to have to be expanded to ten. D-backs have no shot now.

Whatever the opposite of captain checkdown is called, that is what Stafford is. He tries to make ridiculously hard throws to often. Guy has an arm though.

Players in a defenseless posture are: A receiver attempting to catch a pass; or who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a runner. If the receiver/runner is capable of avoiding or warding off the impending contact of an opponent, he is no longer a defenseless player;

Fair enough, but then that rule is totally unacceptable.

Edit: And is called incredibly unevenly.

Edit2: the latter possibly being a function of the former.

Fair enough, but I'm sure you can use this rule based on every single catch where the receiver gets hit as soon as he catches the ball. I still don't think the Bryant/Nelson hit should be a penalty.

I don't either with the benefit of replay, but it's not difficult to understand why it was called. He was definitely defenseless; whether there was a launch, or contact from/to either player's helmet is probably pretty tough to distinguish at that speed.

Good Christ, I think we're looking at Giants/Patriots Part III. I just don't see anyone in the NFC capable of keeping the Giants out once they set their minds to the task.

I dunno. I've thought for most of the season that this is actually the best team in the NFC right here and they just need to get healthy enough to show it. I didn't think the beatdown the NYG laid on GB really told us anything.

If that ridiculous call at the end of the GB-SEA game had gone the right way this team would be about to run their record to 10-4 10-3 despite a raft of injuries to important players.

They're about to get Matthews and Woodson back and they still have a pretty good shot at a bye. I still see them as a big threat to win the whole thing.

Last Lions possession:
2 Megatron targets. 2 first downs.
7 non-Megatron targets. 1-7, 4 yards.

I realize that you can't throw the ball to the same player on every play, and that Johnson is already the second most-targeted guy in the league, but whenever I watch the Lions I come away thinking that Johnson should be targeted like 50% more often than he is. Throw it his way literally 20 times a game and see what happens.

Yea, I've actually been more nervous about GB throughout the season. Although anything can happen, I'm really only concerned about possibly playing at Denver on the road through the AFC. If we get through that, then I do see either GB or the NYG as the strongest teams match-up wise in the NFC. I'd love to face the Giants for the whole revenge factor, but then again I hoped for that last year and that didn't quite work out. It will be interesting to see how the NFC shakes out over the next few weeks.

And just looking at the standings and remaining schedule, I can actually see the Jets making it now, which I never would have thought after "butt tackle night"...Jets, Pitts, or Cincy; and this is probably more of an indicator as to the spread between the top 2-3 AFC teams and the next 4-8 teams.

I feel the same. He could get 20-25 targets a game and probably haul in 80% of them.

That came pretty damn close to working.

Edit - Rewatched it a couple times. Geez if they'd had Stefan Logan lined up to the far left rather than in the middle of the field they probably get the ball inside the 40 with perhaps time to take TWO shots into the end zone. That was a pretty cool way to try a desperation onside.

Figures that the Cowboys lose Dez right as they get Demarco Murray back. They might be able to fight their way to a playoff spot but hopes of a magical playoff run are probably now over.
