OK we're back on our main server.  It was taking a super long time to move *everything* back just to save a day's worth of messages.  I've been at this all day now and need to get back to my real job so.,... sorry.  Working on a better plan in case this happens again.  nip

Tonight, Rondo returns after his two game vacation to Mexico. On said vacation, he apparently didn't learn anything, which in my experience is a good thing (last time, I learned that being forced to drink Micheladas is a fate worse than death).

Minnesota comes to town. Beat these jerks.

So, what's the over/under on how many rebounds Kevin Love is going to get tonight against a team like the Celtics who couldn't box out a butterfly? 30?

Last time they played he had 11 in 39 minutes.

Pekovic is no slouch on the boards either. The Celtics will have to bring their "A" game to beat this team.

With how much better the defense has played over the last few games, I'd have preferred leaving Lee in the starting lineup and putting Terry back into his sixth man role. Then again, it's been the bench's defense that needs the most work.

Rondo is wheeling and dealing now, and Terry is figuring out the spot-up game to give Rondo a better target.

It's the first time I've seen him, and my impression is that Sullinger has real skills. He's into the team defense and good at taking charges, like a thinner Big Baby who can shoot.

Two games of not watching Rondo do things like that was an injustice.

I have watched a handful of celts games this year.

From what I have seen, it seems they have real trouble defending the 3 point line. So many wide open looks.

Brandon Bass knocks Kevin Love on his ass away from the ball for no apparent reason, picking up his third foul of the first half and sending Love to the line:

Pierce can't be allowed to handle the ball anymore when Rondo is on the court. His body is too slow off the dribble, but his mind doesn't recognize it.

13 in 35 minutes. So, under 30.

Love got himself in foul trouble. One call was questionable, but the others I thought were fair. It was not one of Love's better games. Same for Pekovic.

There's a possibility that this will be a recurring theme this year -- one that only gets stronger as the year goes on.

It's possible, but highly improbable. Good players have mediocre nights. (Let's not kid ourselves and call Pierce's night awful because, outside of the turnovers, it wasn't.) For the season, Pierce has pretty much been the same player he has always been. His PPG is right in line with his post-KG performance. His rebounds and steals are up slightly, blocks and assists down slightly, and turnovers are about even. He is shooting worse from the floor, but is having a strong season from 3. Now, his defense has undeniably lost a bit due to his fading athleticism, but he is still a very good player and the hawing over his performance so far this year is virtually entirely unfounded.

No, Pierce's night was not awful. it wasn't great either ... 4 turnovers, 1 for 6 from the 3-point line, 6 for 15 overall. I don't think Pierce is awful, or that he will be awful by the end of the year. I just seem him descending quickly to ordinary, which is a big step down for him. It is my fervent hope that Jeff Green will prove himself to be a step above ordinary.
