Scary situation in KC right now as a player and another person have been shot at the Chiefs facility. Don't want to reveal player until his family knows

As to the Chiefs incident, the situation is contained and there is no ongoing threat.

According to twitter it sounds like a murder suicide is what KC media is saying

No one is saying now, but the very first mentions on twitter says Jovan Belcher from U Maine... apparently in front of Pioli and Crennel.... yikes.

Per Jay Glazer

So he's happy to put out the story before next of kin have been informed but he does it anonymously so every family member of a Chiefs player goes into a panic, really classy. How about just keeping quiet about any of it until all the people have been informed in the right way, rather than reporting it just so you can add it to your list of scoops?

Now reporting that the murder victim was his girlfriend, who was killed elsewhere, then he drove to the Chiefs' facility and shot himself.

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Police are investigating two deadly shootings Saturday morning that they said are related.
The shootings involve a Chiefs player and his girlfriend.
The first shooting was reported about 8 a.m. at a home near 54th Street and Chrysler Avenue. The second shooting was reported a short time later at a Chiefs practice facility located on the Arrowhead facility.
Officials said the Chiefs player shot and killed his girlfriend and then drove to the practice facility where he shot and killed himself.

Wikipedia agrees.

Horrible stuff. Especially happening the day before a game.

We'll likely never know unless he shot himself in the chest.

This is awful, has anything like this ever happened? Do they play the game tomorrow?

Really? Wikipedia is a reliable source on this kind of thing now?

Not saying it isn't Belcher, but I hardly think some yahoo editing his wiki page using an article that doesn't name him as its reference is confirmation of anything.

Well, it's probably a disaster now.

How fucked up do you have to be to drive to work and then do it in front of your coach and GM? That seems really odd.

Better than the one I saw that called him an n-word savage.

Chiefs can't possibly play tomorrow, right? They need to postpone the game. It wouldn't be the worst thing if it was just cancelled, Carolina isn't playing for anything either.

If he really did do this in front of Crennel and Pioli, how fucked up do you think they are now? What a terrible thing to witness. You have to worry about the mental health of each.

I doubt they cancel the game. Too much money involved. But it will be an awkward scene. I mean, this guy did kill someone other than himself. I bet they'll do the customary moment of silence. Given that he was intent on ending his life, I'm glad he didn't have any beefs with coaches or other players.

A quick Google search doesn't return any news about Belcher & concussion(s). He had a groin injury earlier this season (Sept) per Rotoworld, but no news about anything concussion related.

It's just as plausible that this is NOT concussion related - unfortunately, there might not be an easily digestable explanation for something so senseless.

Yeah, you can go mental without a concussion. This seems like a typical murder-suicide. Of course, usually the suicide happens at the scene of the murder. Driving to practice and THEN shooting yourself in front of people is very creepy.

This type of thing happens fairly often in the "real world." It very well could have nothing to do with football, other than he was a football player.

And I'll be shocked if they don't play the game.

There is this thing called money. It is the reason today's NFL exists. Not playing the game hurts them in the monies, that's all that matters.
