The Saints are one of my favorite teams to watch. They are an almost perfect model of what a team can do with a deadly passing offense, and nothing else in the NFL these days.

Is Atlanta even trying on offense? Pitch to Turner on 1st down? Running routes short of the goal line?

Atlanta is really painful to watch. This is not a top 5 team.

Might have just completed the trifecta of hilarious QB turnovers this year (spearheaded by the Sanchize and Phil Riv at 1 and 2, respectively).

Brees' TD streak...

Well, if they're reviewing it Bush is either down at the spot of the recovery (looked like he may have been touched on the arm when he was down) or it's TD. They don't review whistles, right?

Did the whistle blow after his forward progress was stopped but before the fumble? Was he down by the shoulder pad contact?

Brees is just preparing Sean Payton for what it would be like to coach Romo.

HA HA TIME FOR MOAR PICKS

John Abraham fucked this all up, although it'd be even more awesome if Brees promptly flushed another.

I really liked Brees up until last year. How he and the Saints celebrated that fucking TD streak was nauseating. Then all that shit talking over bountygate made me dislike him more. So happy they're done this year.

Never. But he has thrown 4 picks in a game 6 times, and oddly enough only 3 picks on two other occasions... I went through the stats real quick but that's what I found.

Well, he hasn't done it professionally and he never threw that many picks in college...so a very long time, if at all.

ESPN calling this win a franchise-defining display of dominance, and proof that Atlanta deserves its record and its forthcoming seed.

I'm not sure about that, but I will say this: there was a time that I kinda wished I had Drew Brees as my QB instead of Tom Brady. That was a stupid time and I am ashamed of it.

Jesus, I hope not. It's almost a bullshit statistic if you compare it to the conditions Unitas faced. But if the media wants to go nuts, whatever. I took exception to how Brees and the Saints handled it. Asking for the NFL to allow his suspended coaches to attend the game. Stopping the game while the Chargers had to stand around the field for five minutes. Then inviting the cameras into the locker room for Drew's ten minute speech how "This record is not about me" which means, "This record is all about me".

One of the things I admire most about Brady was his post game comments after he surpassed Montana in TDs last year:

"I'll never be in Joe's category. We throw the ball a lot more than they threw it back then. It's much more of a passing league now than it's ever been"

It's ridiculously unfair to compare today's QBs to guys like Unitas, Starr and Marino on stats alone. Everybody knows the game plans, the rules, and even the field conditions allow for passing numbers that were unheard of twenty years ago. But you'll almost never hear modern QBs say that. Brees made a million remarks when he broke Marino's record for yards in a season yet (and maybe I just missed it), I never heard him bring up his enormous advantage.

Brees has thrown 16 picks this year. Brady has thrown 19 picks since the start of the 2010 season.

People who have studied it statistically have found that interception rate is really random. Brady's a rare exception - in 11 seasons, his worst INT rate was still 4% better than league average, and his career mark is 16% better than league average. Brees' career rate is 5% better than league average. That's still better than Romo (1% better), Favre (2% worse), Eli (4% worse). Even guys like Peyton and Elway have had below-average seasons.

In other words: your stat tells me more about Brady than it does about Brees. It's not unusual for an excellent QB to have a high-INT season.

Totally agree it speaks more to Brady's amazing ability to avoid turnovers 2 of the last 3 seasons.
