I approve this move. The Yankees should continue to re-sign all of their old players until those players cannot lift the ball anymore.

Satchel Paige went 12-10 as a starter with a 3.07 ERA for the horrid St. Louis Browns at the age of 45. Mo will be 43 next summer. He might pitch until he's 50. Not that he wants to. This should be his last season no matter what. Unless, of course, he's typical Mo Rivera and then maybe he finds he can't stifle the competitive urge.

My favorite Satchel stat is he threw three shutout innings for the KC A's in 1965 at the alleged age of 58.

Against the Sox. And he only allowed one hit, a double by Yaz.

I approve too. Anytime you can sign players in the greatest of all time strata to short term deals, you do it.

They're all going to be gone after this year with NY's attempt to get under $189M, or at least the ones wanting substantial salaries. Jeter will be the interesting one, with a semi-cheap player option as of now.

This also would appear to be Cashman's strategy, as JA has been saying for awhile. Bring back Pettitte, Mo and maybe even Ichiro on one-year deals. I could even see them going without Martin at catcher and using a collection of stiffs behind the plate this year. Could a platoon of Stewart and Whiteside be much worse than what Martin did for the first four months of 2012? Then maybe Romine is ready to catch 100 games in 2014.

I know, JA. Wrong thread.
