Why are the first 5 minutes of every ACC Tournament game always a disaster?

Also I will add that Donahue can coach. He makes adjustments and is able to develop not as highly recuruited kids into very good players from the looks of it. I am a bit nervous if BC sees very good success next year that he will get attention and look to leave and go to a big time program. Obviously I am getting ahead of things here, but I can see that scenario playing out.

BC up 27-25 at the half!
All hail Dave Stapleton! He was completely right about them. This is going to be a very good team next year, regardless of what happen the rest of this year, save for injuries.
Haha. I'm such a blind homer it's tough to give me any credit. That said, I really like the development of Heck. I really hope he sticks around. Hanlan is a stud and if Rahon improves year to year he could be tremendous.
The big keys for next year will be Clifford's health and a true athletic (or skilled) big.
But ... I'm disappointed about this game. It was there for the taking.

Yes, you are getting ahead of things.
It would be interesting to see what happened if we had a hot coach - hasn't happened since we've been in the ACC. I'm not sure it would be as easy to lure a coach from BC as it was back in the 80's, the last time this really was an issue (Dr. Tom and Gary Williams).

Yup. Hanlan's game yesterday moved the needle a little bit for us but taking out Miami would have given us a whole day of highlights since it would have been one of the top stories. Oh well. Next year, they should be able to close out more of these games. Miami won't be Miami next year but somebody else will be. Need to be able to beat teams as talented as them if we want to take the next step.

I really wish Hanlan was given the opportunity to take over the game late. He played soild but they LET Miami take him out of the game. Sure ... Larkin did a nice job of denying him the ball but HE'S A GUARD. You can force the issue and get him the ball and let him do his thing. He was 5-10 .... played well but could have been a difference maker during the last 10 minutes. They waited until 3 minutes and then Hanlan had a bad turnover (with some good D by Larkin) followed by atrocious defense letting him hit the 3 ... that was the game.
Lots of pressure next year on this team. Short of some bad injury to one of the key players, this team should be in the tournament. I don't want to hear any talk about the "bubble".

They finshed at 15-16 overall. If they beat Bryant and just one other win...OOC or ACC, pick one (maybe the first Miami game, or the loss to Maryland??) and they are in the NIT which would have been a nice post season get this year to allow the team to practice a bit more and get some post season experience. Next year is a big one for the program. Time to take the next step and get back to the Tournament.

BC picks up another recruit. Daryl Hicks from Kentucky. I don't know a ton about him but he's a 3 star with offers from Indiana, Arizona, Cincy and FSU. He's a 6' 3" guard who should be able to come right in and help. He's a finalist for Mr. BBall in Kentucky and when he was an underclassman had offers from many of the so-called "elite" programs. Looks like and injury and position change may have changed his recruiting a bit and opened up an opportunity for BC.
While big man help is needed they really needed this third guard. Jackson will be playing the role of shooter but as we saw this year, they really need another ball handler/scorer type and Hicks seems to fill the need.
So far BC has addressed two needs: Athletic wing (defender) and 3rd Guard with good handle and scoring ability. Now to get a big man who can rebound and defend. Looks like Thomas Hamilton is their best hope and that would be a great get.

He passes my YouTube eyeball test. I like Lonnie Jackson but he's way too limited to be playing more than 15-20 mpg. With the addition of Hicks, Owens, and Drago, our backcourt/wing depth should be pretty good now. We just need Clifford insurance and we'll be ready to go.

Here is an interview with him... http://blogs.courier...boston-college/
Says BC was heavy on him last year, then backed off thinking they didn't need another guard, then in the middle of this year got back on him big time. Says Indiana was the first school to offer, says he is 6'3 184.
Boston College getting Darryl Hicks is a pretty darn good get at anytime ... It is a great get this time of year. Can really make shots.

Hicks and Owens signed their LOIs this week and last. I think the staff is till looking for a 5th year transfer (probably a big). I would have liked another big body since a lot will ride on Cliffords health next year. However, with the word that now Shane Larkin is looking to go to the NBA BC should be viewed as middle of the pack (at least) going into next year. Even Syracuse is losing a ton and could find themself with only one PG (and a freshman).
