Opening Night: Beat the Heat

Fine. Awful. But fine.
Regardless, there's still a game to be played and the Celts might as well win.
I like their chances tonight and all year.
And I like the tangibles (depth, health) and intangibles (Ray anger, apparent Ubuntu 2.0, lots of "experts" overlooking them or picking them behind the Knicks and Nets).
Enough talk, murder these bastards.

Regardless of that, I'm excited to see the season starting. I'm most interested to see Jeff Green tonight. I'm hoping he's going to be a major weapon for the Celts this year. Also interested in seeing Jared Sullinger and whether his strong pre-season can carry over.
Anybody know if Sullinger is officially starting or did they go back to Bass for now?

The game is on TNT and the ring ceremony will be around 7:30. So, yeah, there's some doubt. Is there any doubt that the 8PM tipoff will be delayed so ESPN can broadcast the ring ceremony? I (ignorantly) assume it's never been done on a national broadcast before, but that it's a foregone conclusion tonight.
Also, fuck the Heat. Fuck Wade, fuck James, fuck Ray, fuck Chalmers, and fuck Bosh.

Fuck it, Celtics by 20 as we watch all of the miserable Miami crowd file out during the 3rd quarter (which they would be doing regardless of the score).

As of this morning, Doc had not revealed tonight's starter. I read that in the Globe or the Herald and can't recall which one it was.Anybody know if Sullinger is officially starting or did they go back to Bass for now?
More importantly, he said on Felger and Mazz's show several days ago that he intended to start Sullinger, Green and Bass at different times this year at the 4 spot and it depended on match-ups and how guys were playing.
We'll see if he sticks to that for very long. I tend to doubt it.

Yeah, I feel like it will all work itself out if Sullinger continues his strong play from the pre-season. Good problem to have. Hopefully Sullinger can pick up the defense quickly. If he starts to get schooled, that might allow Bass to creep back in.
It probably won't matter much in the long run, as the guy playing PF in the 4th quarter will be more interesting to watch. I'm guessing they go with Jeff Green more often than not..

I thought this was a parody at first...
I hope that is printed out and distributed to the Celts pregame and that Doc has the team watch the ring ceremony.
I really, really want to see us beat the Heat tonight and ruin their celebration as much as we can.

He doesn't specifically explain his pick but he touches on some of the reasons for optimism in this column:

If you watched espn as a pregame for tonights game I'm not sure you'd know the Celtics were even playing, all Lebron all the time
Why would I do something like that?

I would love to see any of the above get clotheslined McHale style.

I'm not sure I've been this excited about a season opener since maybe the first Pitino game (yup, I actually did have a false sense of optimism then)...and this team may be the deepest one I can recall and I think Ainge did a great job of blending youth with experience; hopefully we can be making the transition to a new era while winning....and beating the Heat with Ray would be a great start.
hey that first pitino game was pretty awesome, the 250 or so after it, not so much
