Yeah, the Heat will get their rings. Yeah, Ray will have the same goofy half smile that he has in his intro Heat press conference on his face as they do.

Fine. Awful. But fine.

Regardless, there's still a game to be played and the Celts might as well win.

I like their chances tonight and all year.

And I like the tangibles (depth, health) and intangibles (Ray anger, apparent Ubuntu 2.0, lots of "experts" overlooking them or picking them behind the Knicks and Nets).

Enough talk, murder these bastards.

Going to be quite a challenging game. I'm interested to see how the C's respond when Miami goes with a lineup of Bosh, Lebron, Battier, Ray Allen, and Wade. I don't know how you can stop 5 guys that can all shoot.

Regardless of that, I'm excited to see the season starting. I'm most interested to see Jeff Green tonight. I'm hoping he's going to be a major weapon for the Celts this year. Also interested in seeing Jared Sullinger and whether his strong pre-season can carry over.

Anybody know if Sullinger is officially starting or did they go back to Bass for now?

Is there any doubt that the 8PM tipoff will be delayed so ESPN can broadcast the ring ceremony? I (ignorantly) assume it's never been done on a national broadcast before, but that it's a foregone conclusion tonight.

The game is on TNT and the ring ceremony will be around 7:30. So, yeah, there's some doubt.

Also, fuck the Heat. Fuck Wade, fuck James, fuck Ray, fuck Chalmers, and fuck Bosh.

I wonder if Wade will continue to pathetically flop around throughout the game instead of playing basketball like he did for the entire series last year.

I love how all of the Celtics hate Ray now. ESPN ran a story yesterday about how all the players haven't talked to Ray since he signed. I believe KG said he lost his number. How do you lose a number in this day and age? lol.

Fuck it, Celtics by 20 as we watch all of the miserable Miami crowd file out during the 3rd quarter (which they would be doing regardless of the score).

I hope Ray Allen starts, and KG passes him over for his "pre game fist bump" routine.

As of this morning, Doc had not revealed tonight's starter. I read that in the Globe or the Herald and can't recall which one it was.

More importantly, he said on Felger and Mazz's show several days ago that he intended to start Sullinger, Green and Bass at different times this year at the 4 spot and it depended on match-ups and how guys were playing.

We'll see if he sticks to that for very long. I tend to doubt it.

Yeah, I feel like it will all work itself out if Sullinger continues his strong play from the pre-season. Good problem to have. Hopefully Sullinger can pick up the defense quickly. If he starts to get schooled, that might allow Bass to creep back in.

It probably won't matter much in the long run, as the guy playing PF in the 4th quarter will be more interesting to watch. I'm guessing they go with Jeff Green more often than not..

I hope that is printed out and distributed to the Celts pregame and that Doc has the team watch the ring ceremony.

I really, really want to see us beat the Heat tonight and ruin their celebration as much as we can.

Chris Forsberg is the one voice in the wildnerness who picks the Cs.

He doesn't specifically explain his pick but he touches on some of the reasons for optimism in this column:

Really excited to watch this game. Very optimistic about this season. Everything about this team seems very likeable, unlike the recent Red Sox teams. I bet I will get kind of bored with basketball mid-season, as I usually do (due to the fact that 50% of the teams make the playoffs), but for now, I'm pumped and jacked.

If you watched espn as a pregame for tonights game I'm not sure you'd know the Celtics were even playing, all Lebron all the time

I'm pretty pumped for the season to get under way, and this game in particular. Office is closed tomorrow and the wife is taking the baby to a friend's place to hang out, so I'll even get to put a couple back during the game. Everything's coming up Milhouse!

The comparison between my feelings about the Celtics going into last season's opener versus the Knicks as opposed to this season's is very favorable. I saw the C's as a proud and tough team in decline going into last year; this year I'm hoping for a renaissance with all the depth and young talent they've added.

Also, fuck the Heat.

I'm not sure I've been this excited about a season opener since maybe the first Pitino game (yup, I actually did have a false sense of optimism then)...and this team may be the deepest one I can recall and I think Ainge did a great job of blending youth with experience; hopefully we can be making the transition to a new era while winning....and beating the Heat with Ray would be a great start.
