OK we're back on our main server.  It was taking a super long time to move *everything* back just to save a day's worth of messages.  I've been at this all day now and need to get back to my real job so.,... sorry.  Working on a better plan in case this happens again.  nip

He gets overshadowed by all the other big names and big contracts on the Yankees, but plenty to talk about with him also. The first half of his 8 year deal is done, he has 4 years left at $23.12M per year.

The specific spark for starting this is that today he won his first Fielding Bible award as the best defensive 1B in baseball ahead of Adrian Gonzalez and Pujols, which honestly surprises me a bit as I thought he had maybe regressed slightly to good and not great defensively.

Interesting article on him I just read. Says that he know he's an overpay but is learning to accept that he's a .250 with good discipline and power

Except he did not say he was overpaid.  He says he does not have as much value as a guy like Trout who makes the league minimum.   This is just stating the obvious since we already know that free agents have little surplus value given they are paid at market value, earning close to what they produce, unlike cost controlled players who earn slave wages by comparison, especially the first 3 years.
