Paraphrasing Ortiz: "Don't worry about me, I'm going to be prepared to play, I love seeing the pain on the opposition. We are going to win."

According to a baseball source, the incentives in David Ortiz's two-year contract are based on the amount of time the designated hitters spends on the disabled list specifically due to the right Achilles tendon injury that limited him to 90 games in 2012.
The two-year, $26 million deal he just finalized calls for Ortiz to make $15 million in 2013 with a base salary of $11 million in 2014. If Ortiz misses 20 or fewer days on the disabled list due to the Achilles in 2013, the 36 year-old sees his 2014 salary bump up to $15 million.

Kudos to Ben and the FO for getting a contract done that is reasonable for both sides, and with a minimum of media drama to boot.
