This is a very big game for the Patriots. St. Louis is a dangerous opponent. They have a 4-man pass rush led by Chris Long that could cause problems. I'm very nervous for this game, but if they can win this game they will be 5-3 at the bye week and looking fairly good.

St. Louis left for London yesterday. The Pats are leaving for London on Thursday I believe.

The internal clocks may also be off for a lot of these players, which could randomize the results a bit. Then again, this is a game that should have been in St. Louis, so no Pats fans should complain.

Gonna be strange watching a 1 PM game played under the lights.

Per Reiss, the Pats leave on Thursday evening, arrive at 7am on Friday, and have media availability at 9am.. not sure if they will have a walkthrough on Friday or Saturday. They should be mostly adjusted by kickoff, hopefully.

FWIW, they took the same approach in 2009, arriving on Friday morning.

I guess the argument is that the Pats will be sharp for practice tomorrow and Thursday and then do a walkthrough Friday when they land and be adjusted by the game. If they leave tonight they might be zombies in practice the next couple days. This is totally consistent with BB's emphasis on the importance of practice.

Also, the game is 1 ET, which is what, 8 AM local time? So the players don't really need to get on a "normal" schedule.

One thing that is different about this Pats team as opposed to the teams of the last 10 years is that going into a game like this, against a mediocre opponent, you could basically already chalk up a win. Brady will the throw 3 tds and we win 35-17. Now after the Jets game, that confidence is gone. I feel like they have a real chance of losing, or almost losing to the Rams.

This is a very dangerous Rams team and their record doesn't do them justice, Fisher has turned them into a respectable team quickly. I've been watching this Rams team every weekend and they're not far off from being elite again IMO. Bradford doesn't have a ton of consistent recievers to work with, but with the way our secondary is I'm not sure they really factors into anything. On the other hand, the Rams have a good rush and a few lockdown guys in the backfield that Brady must not make mistakes against. I actually have them losing this one in one of the other threads. Hope I'm wrong.

I think having Amendola out is huge for the Patriots. I could have seen him with a big game.

Givens for STL looks like a monster on long balls. Four straight games with a 50+ yard reception. I can see him doing that to the Pats safeties and backs a few times and having a big game.

I wish I shared your calm. Not that I think that the Pats will lose. I don't. But when Marky Mark can increase his production by more than 200 yards than he put up the week before against the Indy Colts, the prospect of Sam Bradford, or any competent NFL QB, going against the Pats D has me concerned.

Just watched the E:60 profile of Cortland Finnegan. What I wouldn't give to have him in the Pats secondary right about now. I expect him to abuse Lloyd mightily on Sunday.

This comes under the category of *just win*, some way, any way, heading into a bye week.

That would put them at 5 and 3, with an extra week to heal wounds and figure out stuff that desperately needs to be figured out.

It's going to be a challenge to replicate that 5 and 3 in the second half with the Jets on the road, two games vs Miami, and back to back games vs Houston and the 49ers at home.

Maybe you felt that way but it certainly hasn't been the general sentiment of these threads. Plus even if this is true it is really no different than 2002, 2005 or 2009.

IIRC, Pats-Rams was feature game of the 1:00 CBS window. Miami-Jets is probably local markets only(which means I get screwed out of the game).

I broke down three of these big gains for my blog:
http://davebreaksdow...ris-givens.html

It seems like two of the biggest criticisms of the Pats' defensive play on SoSH are that the defensive backs don't look back for the ball and the Pats don't blitz enough. Here you can see the dangers of looking back and of blitzing. Against Arizona, CB Toler was peeking at Bradford and got roasted by a double move. And Green Bay blitzed on third down and got burned by a screen. It'll be interesting to see how Givens does against the Pats' more conservative secondary. I predict his streak of 50+ yard catches ends but wouldn't be surprised if he hauls in a couple 25-yard bombs.

It's going to be another frustrating day of watching big gainers over the middle and on the sidelines. After Seattle, I think they simply will not let anyone beat them over the top again. Until they start improving, you better hope that the levy doesn't break because it's going to be bending.

anyone else going to the game? i'll be there. Would love to see the Pats at a media session or fan event. I live in Dublin now so this will be the first time seeing them live in a few years.

btw, they definately will not be acclimated to the time zone. Rule of thumb is 1 day for every hour difference. it's an afternoon game though so they should be just fine.

STL beat guy on Amendola:

Those close to Amendola estimated the recovery and rehab time as four to eight weeks. There's no way Amendola plays this Sunday against New England. But with a bye week once the team returns to the U.S., don't be surprised if Amendola is in the lineup Nov. 11 in San Francisco.

Per Rotoworld:

Updating a previous item, Danny Amendola (clavicle) is still holding out hope of playing versus the Patriots on Sunday.
Amendola says says "it kind of depends on how I feel tomorrow. There's an outside chance I could play." Coach Jeff Fisher isn't ruling it out. "We'll have to wait and see how the week goes on," said Fisher. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has insisted "there's no way" Amendola will play Sunday with a bye week on the horizon. It's highly unlikely that we will see his return in London. Oct 25 - 2:08 PM

Source:Associated Press

It says a lot about how sad St. Louis' offensive weapons are that we're talking about whether a dude who has never had 700 yards in a season will be inactive or play at 75% (or whatever) health.

Which isn't to say they won't pass for 300 yards against the Pats, of course.

The Patriots just completed a walkthrough in Hyde Park in London. Aaron Hernandez was NOT present. Seems like he didn't make the trip.

Also absent from the Patriots walkthrough, as far as I could see, were starting safeties Patrick Chung and Steve Gregory.
