Not incredibly surprising with Burke , he'll go down as one of the Michigan all time greats. Time to become familiar with one of next years big recruits who will be battling with Spike for the starting PG position... Derrick Walton. Scouting profile courtesy of ESPN.

Walton is a true point guard that has an excellent feel for the game. He has a tight handle and pushes the ball up the floor on makes or misses. He does a great job of keeping pressure on the defense especially on the break. Walton plays with great pace and moves down the floor with a high but under control speed dribble in which he can change speed and directions on a dime. Walton does a good job of finding teammates but can score as well. Walton is terrific in the open court with his ability to pass and get to the rim. Walton can make mid range pull ups and open threes with time and space when in rhythm. Walton runs the team, competes on both ends of the floor, has great upside and looks to be having fun as well.
Weaknesses:
Walton is a good not great athlete with matching bounce. He must work to make his jumper a consistent weapon and he must continue to add strength in order to become a more physical player."

I think at this point it's safe to say Beilein is really good at finding PG's that do well in his system . (D.Morris , Burke, and Spike) So I feel like they will be in good hands next year.

Hardaway declares for the draft. Again, Michigan has a five-star wing coming in named Zak Irvin. He was Mr. Basketball in Indiana this year. I think we'll manage as far as talent. Hardaway was the leader of the team though, so we'll miss that. Hopefully, Mitch and GR3 stay. I think the Sophomores can step up with their experience and fill the void.

Probably a the best move for Hardaway . Although it would have been great having him back , I don't think another year of college ball would have helped his development that much. Like Sach said , Zak Irwin is a really good recruit and assuming he stays this might also allow GR3 to spend more time at the 3, his natural position.

Hard to see Hardaway's draft slot improving next year. Team would benefit from his leadership, but I agree this was right time for him. Late second round my prediction.

Btw, my daughter is classmates with Zak Irvin. Our high school is big, but isn't a traditional basketball power in the state. Last year, Gary Harris (B1G Freshman of the Year) was Mr. Basketball from the same school, Zak won the award this year, and Taya Reimer was girls Gatorade Player of the Year (she's a Notre Dame commit). Great b-ball the past couple of years.

Irvin and GRIII have played with and against each other and have already struck up a friendship. Irvin is probably a better scorer than Hardaway, but it remains to be seen if he's got the same leadership chops as THJ. Was very deferential to Harris in HS.

Huge news. Should have another team compete for the B10 title next year. GR3 and MM as sophomores are going to be a blast to watch.
