"This is a big game. They've got to win because if we win we've got Pettitte coming back today and then Kuroda will pitch Game 6 and then you can take that fraud stuff and put it to bed. Don't let the Yanks win this game."

This is going to be a fun ride. Did the ninth inning of Game 3 begin to turn the tide for these guys? Time will tell.

Terry....still positive after 0 - 3. It's sometimes hard to root against the Yankees.

It's easier to root for them when A-Rod is on the bench. I liked tonight's lineup. They're probably not good enough to pull this off but at least the effort will be there.

Glad to see you take this one, jon. You and terry have been carrying the load all season with game threads.

If CC can't beat these fucks then all is lost.

I bet ARod is back in the lineup since Chavez went 0-fer. I'd like to see Gardner back in there, though.

It's amazing how Chavez and Jones just lost it. They were supposed to be all stars until their mid/late 30's.

Yeah, not getting much of a "2004 Sox vibe" from this tired and injured bunch. At least in loosing those first 3 ALCS games in 2004 the Sox scored 16 runs on 30 hits - these Yankees numbers through the first three are a bit more pedestrian - 5 runs on 20 hits....

Nick Swisher reminds me of Millar. The big difference, though, is that Millar could hit in the postseason.

NY hasn't been swept in a postseason series since the 1980 ALCS against KC, and not in a 7 game series since the 1976 World Series against the Reds. The good news on the latter is NY rebounded to win the next two World Series, not that I think there's much chance of that happening this time.

Cashman just indicated that A-Rod, for now, would hit only against lefthanders.

PeteAbe

Makes even less sense then that they left him on the bench with Coke on the mound.

Girardi said that he thought DET would have brought Benoit in then, but Michael Kay said in the postgame that since the pitching coach had just visited, DET would have had to leave in Coke for one batter.

They probably didn't want to waste Sabathia/Scherzer, considering a massive wall of rain is headed toward Detroit.

Should be good weather today, but looks like rain tomorrow. That's one way to make Sabathia available for Game 7 - have it happen on Monday.

I'm heading out to a black tie dinner that was scheduled months ago, to induct my collegiate fencing team and some others (including Bob Kraft) into the Columbia Athletics Hall of Fame. I will bring my little radio, but won't be back here until after the game, and possibly the season, is done.

Thank god Swisher is in there to play that into a single. And to strikeout at the plate.

Sabathia already down 1-0. Game over.

Why is Swisher playing again?

Two strikeouts, this one looking. Runners on and you strike out looking?

Granderson could've done that.
