While I absolutely am concerned about Gronk's hip (I'd be concerned about ANY injury to him, he's arguably our second-most important offensive player) I don't really feel as though his injury history comes into play here- his previous injuries were to his back and his ankle, so this would seem to be unrelated. Unless it's a back problem manifesting as hip pain, then all bets are off, but I doubt that.

As for what his diagnosis is, who the hell knows - "hip pain" could be so many different things - hip flexor, hip pointer, labrum - we'll obviously never know unless and until he has surgery - let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Sal Pal was on SportsCenter this morning and reported that Gronkowski was a big concern with his back as well. He talked to Mike Reiss and he said the team is concerned. Great.

That's odd, because Reiss doesn't say that in his ESPNBoston post, though he refers to his back issues at 'Zona. One would think he'd be more forthright about that kind of info.

My instinct is that it's sloppy reporting by Sal Pal w/r/t the back.

Good news guys: my 11-week-old son already peed through his Patriots onesie. Last week I had him in that outfit to start the game, and once he got it wet things turned positive for the Pats. This week, with his duds already soiled, it should be smooth sailing from the opening kickoff.

DRS, I only brought up the injury history because Pal specifically referenced his back as a concern to the team.

From WEEI's site:

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is dealing with "significant pain" when it comes to a hip issue that has dogged him the last two weeks, according to a report from ESPN Boston. Gronkowski has been listed on the injury report with a hip ailment as of late, and was limited this past week in practice. The third-year tight end has 19 catches for 260 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Mike Reiss@MikeReiss

@carpy5024 John, I think it's the history of Gronk's back issues that was referenced. Listed on injury report with hip.

Stupid broadcast areas. Even if I lived in CA, I would rather watch Pats-Broncos than 49ers-Bills.
