Patriots at Ravens

This will not detract one iota from my man love for Ray Lewis. About 5 or so years ago, when Ray was in the prime of his career, the defense was always introduced at home games, and he was introduced last. And before he came running through the smoke, this appeared on the huge scoreboards behind each end zone. It could not be more fitting:

It would be awesome for a Boston free agent signing of a name to not end in tears. If Winslow actually could perform for this team, that would be awesome.ESPN reporting that Winslow will be active tonight.

Just getting a six week run of good football from Winslow would be a nice boost as Hernandez hopefully recovers

Pats inactives: Hernandez, Francis, Deaderick, Dennard, Bequette, Vereen, McDonald.

McDonald inactive is a good sign that they're not worried about Connolly or Mankins ... I think.Jeff Howe

But what does it say that they dressed four TE: Gronk, Fells, Winslow, Hoomanawanui?

Could mean a lot of 2 WR sets with Lloyd and Edelman.

Or that Fells and H-man are there in case Winslow is ineffective and for the occasional three-TE set.Could mean a lot of 2 WR sets with Lloyd and Edelman.
Take these MFers, Patriots. Just do that.

Pats inactives: Hernandez, Francis, Deaderick, Dennard, Bequette, Vereen, McDonald.
Reiss:
Forston breaks through with Deaderick out. With reserve defensive tackle Brandon Deaderick (ankle) not dressing, rookie Marcus Forston is active for the first time this season. Deaderick mostly played in short-yardage situations (29 of 129 snaps), while sometimes giving starters Vince Wilfork and Kyle Love a breather.
Fortson over Deaderick is bad news for Deaderick with Myron Pryor due back after week 6-8 and Gerard Warren waiting by the phone.
Vereen not beating out Bolden is a bad sign for those of us (is it still an us or is it just me?) still hoping to see Vereen emerge.

They're both hurt aren't they?
They both practiced this week. Everyone's hurt. They're not injured. Hernandez is injured - he didn't practice.
EDIT: I'm wrong. Deaderick was injured during practice this week. My bad.

Me too I thought Vereen missed one day this week.

I love and fear Ed Reed but Ty Law is high on bath salts.

1) this is 100% for TV and 0% for his teammates
2) no teammate EVER looks to be even listening to him, much less inspired by him
Love the player, but those things just look silly at this point

Please don't show Ray Lewis pumping his team up, that's only going to serve to terrify me.
Love Lewis--but fuck him tonight.
Like I said, punch these fuckers in the mouth early and their bravado goes away.

I'd hate to be team captain and motivational leader. After a few games, you've got to run out of original material.

For the record, the Pats' latest injury report was:
Out this week:
Out - Dennard, Deaderick, Francis, Hernandez
Questionable - Vereen, McDonald
Healthy scratch - Bequette
The following players were on the injury report but playing:
Questionable - Connolly, Vollmer, Fells, Lloyd, Moore, Mankins
Probably - Chung

Sure, but since Dennard, Francis, Deaderick, and Hernandez were all "Out," it stands to reason they're out due to injury. If BB wanted to mess with people he'd make them "Questionable." There's little BB loves more than listing players as Questionable.Limited participation means many, many things.

Is that only for the Ravens? Is it key for NE (or any other fucking team) to also take advantage of their opponent's mistakes?
And wow--Dungy picks NE???

Did you miss the part where I apologized for not seeing Deaderick's injury on Friday? Cause I did.
Vereen's status, and "limited participation" is as limited as guys who will be playing. Whatever. I want Vereen to be a factor and he's not, due to lingering injury and Bolden being better right now.

You're dealing with football players so you can use the same stuff over and over.I'd hate to be team captain and motivational leader. After a few games, you've got to run out of original material.

Yeah, Vereen has been disappointing so far. I hope he can make a contribution at some point this year. I'm also hoping Woodhead can figure out whatever happened to his afterburners last year; he was so much more explosive his first year with the team. I don't think Vereen / Bolden is really a competition; Bolden's a four-unit special teamer and the most fullbacky guy on the roster since they cut Hilliard.Vereen's status, and "limited participation" is as limited as guys who will be playing. Whatever. I want Vereen to be a factor and he's not, due to lingering injury and Bolden being better right now.
