RADIO: 98.5 FM, The Sports Hub, is the flagship station for the Patriots Radio Network. A complete listing of the network’s 40 stations can be found here. Play-by-play broadcaster Gil Santos is in his 36th season as the voice of the Patriots and will call the action. Former Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak will handle the color commentary, taking over duties for Gino Cappelletti. Cappelletti, a member of the original Boston Patriots in 1960 and the all-time leading scorer in the American Football League’s history, retired from the broadcast team after 31 years as the team’s iconic color analyst.

The Patriots have invited five local medalists from the recent Summer Olympics to their preseason contest with the Eagles on "Monday Night Football," the team announced Saturday.

Aly Raisman: Needham, Mass., native won gold as the captain of the U.S. women's gymnastics team.
Elizabeth Beisel: North Kingstown, R.I., native won silver and bronze medals in swimming.
Kayla Harrison: Wakefield, Mass., native became the first American to win gold in judo.
Asjha Jones and Tina Charles: Pair of former UConn basketball players and current members of the Connecticut Sun won gold on the U.S. women's basketball squad.

Due to some extended work on the side, and 3 games in 9 days, there are some who think Brady, Lloyd and Gronk may not play.

I don't think the first team O and D will play all that much tomorrow night due to the schedule. I think they will play a quarter tomorrow, well into the 2nd half against Tampa Bay, then at most the 1st quarter against the Giants. The 3 games in 9 days is a killer schedule and it's tricky as to how to handle it.

Given the lack of practices the rest of the way, the starters may play the entire first half.

Too bad we won't see Demps on the field, nor Vollmer/Fells as they were just just activated from PUP.

I'll be looking for:

• Who gets reps & throws at the WR position. With Fells activated, one of Gaffney, Stallworth, Branch may be cut. Surprisingly, it may be Gaffney on the outside looking in
• The tackles: Cannon at right tackle before sliding down to the bench & Solder hoping to have a better showing than the last game
• Woodhead: no threat of being cut IMHO, but will see if he gets any ST reps as a KO returner
• Ebner: looking more like a lock at a 53 roster, and hope to see him at S during later part of the game
• Brace: this is really do or die for him. Does he take 2nd team reps?

Nice, I'm actually happy to see that news. Hopefully this gives us a real good idea of what Mallett is capable of, while not having to worry about Brady getting hurt. Win-win.

I like the idea of structuring the remaining three games around the TB game - it will be in weather that should most closely approximate that of TEN, and key starters will neither have too long nor too short of a layoff between the lion's share of their preseason game action and Week 1.

Plus, I don't think the Giants will play anyone on the 29th, seeing as they open the season Sep. 5th - what would be the point of playing the starters against mostly backups and scrubs?

I don't think Mallett is at any risk of getting cut based on his performance in a preseason game. The lesson of the Cassell example isn't that bad preseason QBs are good - it's that looking at individual preseason performances is even more pointless than looking at team results. Belichick sees literally 20 times more from these guys during practice than he does during games. That's what the decision of whether someone gets cut or not is going to be based off of.

Mallett could get cut though, sure. He's third on the depth chart at a position that doesn't necessarily need three players, and practice reports haven't been super glowing either.
