I'm not mad or sad or disappointed. I'm still watching. Still rooting. I just don't care anymore. My life is too awesome right now to care if they lose. I've been burned too many times this year to suddenly get hopeful if they win.

I sincerely hope they play a baseball game and no one, like, dies. That's about it.

I'm not rooting for losses per se, but I'm fine with anything that drives the Red Sox closer to the purging fire and away from more lame half-measures that do nothing but shift or ignore the significant issues facing the organization.

Tank the season for a nice draft slot, so we can fuck that up too.

Tim Britton@TBritton_Projo
Before you point out the indignity of losing three straight to the Twins, consider that, over the last 71Gs, MIN is one better than the Sox.

Also, play the fuck out of the kids.

Um, guess who's been playing most of the year? The kids. With 23 guys hitting the DL 27 times (a Red Sox record), just about everyone from AAA has had their shot. Some have made the most of it such as WMB and Pedro. Even Felix and Franklin, Lavarnway, Kalish, Nava, Tazawa have all made impact. You've seen more guys wearing high number unis than ever before. Ever.

Oh and I HATE losing. So let's win. Until we are mathematically eliminated, fight to the death.

I'm ambivalent--should I go with Waylon Jennings or the Buddy Holly original?

Don't really care, but here's the lineup:

  • Jacoby Ellsbury CF
  • Carl Crawford LF
  • Dustin Pedroia 2B
  • Adrian Gonzalez 1B
  • Cody Ross DH
  • Jarrod Saltalamacchia C
  • Will Middlebrooks 3B
  • Ryan Kalish RF
  • Mike Aviles SS

Once again, I will reiterate how little I understand batting Middlebrooks after Salty. Just to break up the RHH?
Whatever. The last four spots in the lineup do not instill me with confidence.

Ive just reached a place
Where the willow dont bend
Theres not much more to be said
Its the top of the end
Im going
Im going
Im gone

Im closin the book
On the pages and the text
And I dont really care
What happens next
Im just going
Im going
Im gone

I been hangin on threads
I been playin it straight
Now, Ive just got to cut loose
Before it gets late
So Im going
Im going
Im gone

Grandma said, Boy, go and follow your heart
And youll be fine at the end of the line
All thats gold isnt meant to shine
Dont you and your one true love ever part

I been walkin the road
I been livin on the edge
Now, Ive just got to go
Before I get to the ledge
So Im going
Im just going
Im gone

Heading into town for the game in a little while. It's been a few weeks since my last visit, and I'm curious to see what the mood is like at the ballpark.

Fuck these fucking loser assholes.

Fuck Pedroia, Fuck Big Papi, Fuck Adrian Gonzalez, Fuck Jon Lester, Fuck Josh Beckett.

All 5 of those sniveling, spoiled, pieces of shit have been pissing and moaning all year long and this is what happens when the core of your team is a group of underperforming, delicate, injury-prone, sensitive cry baby asshole fuckheads.

Last place. Assholes. You're a LAST PLACE TEAM.

Fuck You.

Hard.

Up the ass.

With long, sharp, rusty, metal objects.

Assholes.

Can't wait to see the fantastic trades we make to get some sort of return to this horrible season. We have good pieces to trade, catchers that can hit, a lefty masher, almost MVP CF who is a pending FA. We have some really interesting things to work with.

What? Its August 5?

Phuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccckkkkkkkkk!!!!!

They're still a half-game up on Toronto.

Cafardo today:

Kelly Shoppach, C, Red Sox — The Brewers had considerable interest at the deadline, but the Sox held on. Doug Melvin had designated George Kottaras for assignment and was looking for a catcher. The Sox’ front office seems to have a fascination with Shoppach that nobody understands.

They've scored a combined nine runs against Deduno, Duensing, and De Vries. This team will have no trouble finding a way to hold itself to two runs over seven innings.

This is where you really see why Sean McDonough was replaced by Don Orsillo. His opening comments about it being Vermont Day and how great Morales pitched when he was last in the rotation is the kind of happy talk management (even if it was the hated prior management) wanted. The idea that fans are excited about Vermont Day, rather than how bad this series has been (not to mention the season) and how horribly last night's game ended, fools nobody and just damages NESN's credibility. Sean was a fan. Orsillo is just an advertising executive.

But to this old geezer, who started following this team when Curt Gowdy, Net Martin (and Art Gleason) had to keep us interested when the team seemed hoplessly out of it by late May, never stops rooting for my team. It is enduring these hard times, that makes the good ones, the pennants, and the two world championships in my lifetime, even sweeter. Anybody who thought that Mantilla's hot start in 1964 meant something, will not complain when some jackass hasn't the common sense to walk Mauer with first base open. Much.

Ben Revere could be seen running through Lexington and Concord last night yelling, "The Red Sox are coming! The Red Sox are coming!" with a large, shit-eating grin upon his face.

It does seem like we do it an awful lot, and sometimes when it isn't even remotely close, like last inning. If I were the HP ump I would find that annoying.
