Since there wasn't a one already, figured to start a thread for today.

This morning a very good tennis matches, as Serena plays Sharapova for the gold.
The US mens hoops team plays Lithuania in an hour and "Only" favored by 34.

This women's tennis final looks like being a massacre. Serena holds to love then breaks to love.

I love Mary Carillo concluding that Serena uncharacteristically taking a seat and having a drink of water, delaying the match for a moment or two, would "have to be a huge boost for Sharapova" psychologically.

Uhhhh... yeah. What a load of horseshit.

This is Pedro Martinez 17 strikeout dominance we're seeing here.

Can't be bothered with any more Tennis, switching to the USA b-ball. Which is closer.

Good grief... Chris Paul is a whiny little baby... he's got a lot of Isiah Thomas in him... and not in a good way.

Serena destroying Sharapova shows her greatness and at the same time how sad the women's talent is right now.

Maybe the US will decide to play defense in the 2nd half. Lithuania shooting anywhere near 50%, nevermind over it is embarasing.

Meh. Grass is Serena's canvas of choice, accentuates her strength advantage.

I hope this game makes everyone STFU about comparisons to the Dream Team. Trailing to a team like this in the 3rd is laughable.

To be fair, they weren't trailing? It's been close but USA has never been behind.

This goes far beyond the grass courts and Serena. The women's game talent is weak currently. When Caroline Wozniacki can come anywhere close to #1, its very weak.

For the Dream Team 2, maybe a loss is a good thing....they were getting big heads and their effort is showing it.

Senegal just erased a 2-0 deficit against Mexico, about 15 minutes to go. Tough channel choice.

Man, I really should have bet the spread on Lithuania here. Was gonna say USA -35 is ridiculous, I didn't expect this but I was thinking that USA -20 would be about right.

Yeah, Songaila easily backing down Durant then scoring on a wide open layup after a simple pick and roll bodes well for 2012 against 92.

Well, pure talent wins out and this is what its like when the US is not hitting outside shots. They were awful inside again being out rebounded and outplayed. The comps can stop now...US has to simply make sure they win the gold and that starts with defense. Embarassing effort today on the defensive end.

Definitely should be a straight red.

As far as Team USA, I'd keep in mind that Lithuania beat the US in 2004. They're not a bad international side. In fact, they're one of the best. Yeah, yeah, we have all this talent, but that doesn't mean we're not going to be challenged. It was a nice win. I am definitely in the minority here, but I like Olympic Basketball so much more than the NBA. There's less ego and you don't have refereeing that feeds the egos. It's actually fun to watch.

Know not many Americans are watching the track cycling, but the USA Women's Team Pursuit team just beat the Aussies who were favored to medal at least by less than a tenth of a second over twelve laps. Great race.

Senegal are the dirtiest side in the Olympics by a mile.

I'm not worked up, but that's not an excuse. If you were watching a baseball game and the commentator kept referring to runs as points, would you say something?
