@DidierMorais
OFFICIAL: Franklin Morales says that he's been told he will start in place of Josh Beckett.

@DidierMorais
Morales told me he's excited about the chance to start again.

He will oppose Nick Blackburn.

Ambivalent on whether that's good news or bad news.

Big fan of this move. It likely means he'll remain in the rotation in place of Cook when (if) Beckett ever returns.

On a parallel note, this is tremendous.

Wait, so that means Cook makes another start?

The Red Sox may have taken a risk by jerking Morales around so many times between starter and reliever. Morales was not heavily used in the bullpen, pitching every 4-5 days for a total of 5.2 ip. Franklin is now at 57 innings for the year. His ability to maintain 94 velocity into the 5th inning was very impressive. If he doesn't regain that stamina, then the coaching staff will have some regrets.

Unless they're simply pushing Beckett back a day, yes, Cook is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Rangers.

Seriously, there has been nothing in his previous performances to think this will be anything but a catastrophe.

Josh Hamilton approves of Cook's next start.
