OK, but we need to add your input on whom to fire.So this game kinda sux, huh? I'm glad I missed Lester's masterful interpretation of Starter Implosion.

Excellent. I think Lane would be the #4 starter for this staff. Behind Don, Pete and Doubront.

Does his brain think it was smart to put an effective lefty, Morales, in the pen and allow an ineffective starter to give up 11 runs before removing him? Does his brain have an answer to my question about removing the relatively effective Tazawa from the game just when the Sox got in spitting distance of a tie ballgame? What on earth can be going through Valentine's brain?

I thought it was reported the reason behind Morales to the pen was his IP and him not being stretched out as a starter... BP IP + SP IP= close to IP limits?

It was really hard to watch. he just was missing badly, nothing he threw up there was hitting Salty's spots. The 5 walks could have been worse. The Jays went up swinging after everything obviously. Surprised that he had as many strikes in his pitch count as he did (not counting the hits). Bard-esque.So this game kinda sux, huh? Tazawa pitched in every game this series. Getting 3 innings from him seems like enough, especially in a game that was never within reach.

Complete failure by McClure to curb this problem. Again....fire him tomorrow.

Yeah, you guys are right. It was just disappointing, the way it worked out. But as for never being in reach, haven't the RS ever caught up and won when four runs back?Tazawa pitched in every game this series. Getting 3 innings from him seems like enough, especially in a game that was never within reach.
p.s. In one regard, the game represented progress, in that the Sox scored in more than one inning today.

So, we have a pitching coach who tells Cafardo that he's not big on going to the mound, when pitchers struggle. They're pros and will figure it out or not. What about when pitchers pour gasoline all over themselves and light a match? "I believe that they have more sense than to self immolate."
And Ben C tells Mazz (or BV tells Mazz that Ben C implied to him) that the team would make no moves that would worsen it short term. So that means pretty much the entire starting rotation is in play.
One word - Garza.

Agree. Try spending a few weeks in the Pawtucket club house. See how that goes. Get into joint therapy with Bard.

TWO BOBS: So, you physically deliver advice to the pitchers?
MCCLURE: Well, no.
TWO BOBS: Then you must physically deliver it to the team manager?
MCCLURE: Well...no. Yeah, I mean, sometimes.

Mel Parnell to the FO - You know, as a lefty The Wall gives me the creeps. Raise the mound a few inches. The league won't notice. Nothing but dilletantes there.

Open-mound surgery is very risky, but sometimes it is necessary to save the patient's life.
That will be $10.

$25 co-pay for Emergency Room services. Seriously though, does anyone know if this is something that is regularly done through the season? I can't imagine it is, but there's got to be someone on here with more info regarding this type of operation in general and Fenway in particular. On the one hand, maybe there is a connection between Lester and his struggles at home and the mound, though it seems that other pitchers don't have similar problems.
I bet it's being removed for Liverpool or the rock concerts.
