DRIVE
Game Story
Augusta snapped a 1-1 tie with two runs in the seventh and the GreenJackets went on to a 4-1 rain-shortened win over Greenville.
After waiting out a 1 hour, 21-minute rain delay in the bottom of the fourth, the teams had a 28-minute delay in the bottom of the eighth before the game was called.
Making his second rehab start for Boston with Greenville, Chris Carpenter allowed a leadoff triple to Augusta’s Kelby Tomlinson. He later scored on Ben Thomas’ groundout to give the GreenJackets an early 1-0 lead.
In his only inning of work, Carpenter allowed the one run on one hit and struck out two. He also hit a batter.
The Drive tied the game in the fifth when Henry Ramos led off with a walk and came around to score after back-to-back, one-out singles by Drew Turocy and Dreily Guerrero.
Jeff Arnold, who had two hits to lead Augusta, snapped the tie with an RBI-single in the seventh.
Greenville reliever Michael McCarthy (1-3) allowed two runs, one earned, on one hit in 31/3 innings to suffer the loss. He had two walks and five strikeouts.
