Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, July 9, that the club has signed center Christian Hanson to a one-year, two-way contract through the 2012-13 season. Hanson’s contract will be worth $600,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 at the AHL level

Not much to see here, Hanson's another Whitfield type. His NHL experience is 42 games split over 3 years with the Leafs. He's another body for Providence, and a guy with NHL experience that can ride the Providence-Boston shuttle if there's an injury or two.

And yes, he's the son of Dave Hanson from Slap Shot

Solid emergency callup to have, can kill penalties and skate as a 4th line center.

Looks like the B's made a few more minor moves yesterday. Lane MacDermid was re-signed, and they also signed free agent Garnet Exelby. Both received 1-year, 2-way contracts.

I used to love Exelby when he was on Atlanta. Great guy to have around as either a veteran in Providence or on the NHL roster as the 7th defenseman.
