Now batting, playing 2nd Base, Nick (Nick, nick) Punto, (Punto, punto).

Well, if you can't beat him and make him leave town, you may as well start him for a 4 game MFY series when you're 7.5 back.

Oh, and hey, why not shock some people and win this weekend. Start tonight.

There's a real possibility that Punto and Lillibridge will be in the lineup at the same time. Can we just forfeit the game instead?

The time is now to cut the crying, whining, pissing, moaning, crap, bullshit, posturing and broadcasting, and play the damn game, manage the damn team and win. Whether your name is Papi or Punto, Beckett or Bobby V, give 'em hell, or stay home.

GO SOX - BEAT THOSE DAMN YANKEES!

Now and then I think of all the times when you hit lasers
Had us believing that your season wasn't done
But I don't wanna live this way
Another day of watching Punto play
We said we'd rather have you than Cano
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

I am trying to remain serene. While I know that neither is that of the Red Sox, the Yankees rotation (missing CC) is hardly the 1970 Orioles. The toughest guy we face may be tonight, and we are left to wonder which Beckett will show. But that is the match up I want.

I also know that the current Sox line up is about as impressive as the 1966 team (look it up - sheesh) - offensively and defensively.

However, there is that bullpen - at least the way it is now pitching.

Continue to work on convincing myself that the chances of the Sox going 3 - 1 are only slightly less than 1 - 3.

I am dreaming that Ellsbury and Carl Crawford will be back tonight to make up for Pedey being hurt and the team having to choose 2 of Punto, Ciriaco, Gomez and Lillibridge to play in the infield.

I know Bobby said it'd be after the all star break...but really, does it matter at this point if they come up and suck? Is the chance of them coming up and paying immediate dividends against the MFY worth the possibility of suckage? Will batting against the MFY hurt their chances of recovery, vs. batting against AA pitchers?

You might want to attempt to set your dreams a little lower, looks like Ciriaco and Podsednik.

Have they somehow ginned up echoes at Fenway? I don't even know if the new Yankee Stadium has echoes. Probably not. How about some echoes of 2004 for a change. On July 6, 2004 is when it kind of got started with a 5 game winning streak and they never looked back. Course, we had an excellent lineup then.

Helps to have the defending batting champ hitting ninth, and a pretty potent 3-4-5

This team sucks. Know what sucks even more? Working with Yankee fans who think their team is actually as good as the standings suggest.

Win this series. I don't even care if O's and Tampa win, too. MFY with the biggest division lead at the break is sickening.

The 1770 Boston Massacre should be the first, so we'll be avoiding #4 this weekend (I hope).

Thanks for the corrections. A massacre is still a massacre no matter what number comes after it. Lets hope that we avoid adding a 4 this weekend.

Aslong as we can keep the MFY's in the park we have a very good chance. It's all or nothing with those guys. Their pitching is adequate. It's not like Beckett gives up cheap HR's.

C - OK
1B - big power slump
2B - DL
3B -?
SS- Is what KC thought he was
LF - out all year
CF - out since April
RF - great against LHH

I heard Francona on Sunday Night Baseball say he'd be getting a lot more sleep this year than Bobby V. No kidding.

Punto and Gomez both over Ciriaco?

If you really think Ciriaco with his six walks and 19 XBH in almost 300 PA deserves to be in the big leagues over anybody, I don't know what to tell you. Punto can at least work a walk and play defense and Gomez murdered the ball in Pawtucket. What has Ciriaco done besides hit well in Spring Training?

I know that he needs to play everyday, that Punto can't hit, and that Gomez can't field 3B.

If there's an Adrian Gonzalez still in there somewhere, now would be a terrific time to break out. Say, 8 for 16 with 2 HRs and 9 RBI in a big series from the highest-paid player on the team. Or is that something that just can not happen, like division by zero or traveling back in time without royally fucking up a butterfly's afternoon and thus the rest of history?

Brogna: .658
Lansing: .673
Alexander: .533

Tonight's infield:

Gonzalez: .727
Punto: .542
Aviles: .694
Gomez: .500 (SSS)
