Manuel could be in trouble...They don't want to lose Ryne Sandberg and team is not responding. Players don't give a rats right now...

97.3 ESPN FM@973espn
Source tells me that the team has all but tuned Manuel out and that Sandberg is gaining interest and #Phillies don't want to lose him

97.3 ESPN FM@973espn
team has no motivation and players "don't give a damn" and bad game decisions are being questioned

seems like a mirror of last years Sox

Jeff Francis is the only Rockies starting pitcher to record a win in their last 25 games. Wins are a stupid stat but that's still pretty shocking, this 70 pitches 4 man rotation is a really bad idea IMO

Plouffe went quiet for a bit, but back to cranking now. 4 in his last 5, 18 in last 39.

Wait, there's a 70-pitch limit on starters, and you're judging how good an idea it is on starter wins? At least base the conclusion on team W-L, man.

Sorry, I'm figuring that since the starters have only one win, they must not be getting deep enough into games to get a win. If your staff hasn't gone 5 innings in that many games (which is a guess on my part really) I'd call the idea pretty dumb.

Also anyone watch the Padres/Dbacks game? I'm following it on Gameday and in the second inning Bauer walked Cashner with Everth Cabrera on second. On the 4th pitch it said that he walked Cashner and Cabrera stole third. Now I may sound pretty stupid but I've never heard of a guy stealing third on a walk so did I miss something or is that just how it happened?

EDIT: Also Bauer has really sucked in his two starts. If he doesn't turn it around he may get sent right back down.

Through 5:

Chicago 16
Texas 0

Roy Oswalt with a nice line: 4.2, 13 H, 11 R (9 earned).

Youkilis so far is 3-5 with a HR abd 4 RBIs. Texas doesn't do anything half-assed.

ESPN play-by-play says he stole 2nd on the 4th pitch (ran on a 2-1 count and it was a swinging strike), then stole 3 on ball 4 - which isn't an everyday occurance but pretty normal.

Cashner warming for the 3rd apparently threw one to the backstop, pointed at his elbow then walked off. Doesn't sound good for a guy with an injury history

Keeping up with Padres talking, Bauer with an ugly line score. 6 ER and 4 walks ending his night after 3 1/3.

EDIT: If he can't do well against the Padres, the groin injury is either more serious than they thought or he needs some more time in the minors.

Turns out that trying to correct control issues in a hitters park in the major leagues isn't a good plan. Who knew?

Watching the Nats and listening to the announcers try to explain away why the ballpark is 1/2 empty. Nothing bud sas excuses for the general apathy. LOL. Yes it's 110 degrees but this is the best team in the NL and it's a weekend. They still only draw when they play a team from baseball crazy city and the transplants fill the park. If DC won't support this team now, when will they?

Went on a beautiful Saturday afternoon a month or two ago, near perfect day to go to a ballgame and it was the same deal then. And that was with Strasburg on the hill.

Watching Bauer pitch... looks to have very nice stuff - change/curve/decent life on fastball - but almost no command... don't think he's come close to Montero's glove even once. However - the Dodgers can't hit, so he's through 2 with no runs.

I can't believe this hasn't been much of a story, that was such a horrific call on the umpire's part. He was upset and spiked the ball, but he didn't say a word to the ump. Then once he saw he had been tossed immediately ran over and pleaded "I was mad at myself." Let's make baseball as emotionless as possible, that'll bring in the fans!

Is there a more confusing pitcher in MLB that Francisco Liriano? The dude goes from untouchable to the suck not just from game to game or inning to inning, but from batter to batter.

For example, today he's currently got 10 K's through 4 innings. Dominant, right? But he's also allowed 4 runs (3 earned) in those 4 innings.

No. He has driven me crazy since 2006. Biggest cocktease was Game 1 of the 2010 ALDS.

Five crazily good innings, and then completely falls apart in the 6th.

Pretty funny blown save in LA tonight. Jansen has the Padres down to their final strike and then Everth Cabrera steals home. Jansen then has a throwing error that allows Will Venable (who was at second) to score which put the Padres ahead in the 9th

Andrew McCutchen has homered in four straight games, including today's. He's currently hitting .369 with 21 homers, leads all of baseball in BA and OPS (1.071). What's even scarier is that he's hitting most of his homers to the opposite field.

Pap is about to blow the save against the Dodgers. 3-2 Phills, 1 out, runners on the corners. On MLBN.

Edit: Pap K's Ellis, then gives up an INF single to Kemp that tied the game. Kemp looked out...and upon review, the ump got it right. Kemp beat it out.

He fell into the camera well at Yankee Stadium, which for whatever reason looks about 8 feet lower than field level.
