On his way back - probably a lot to think about.

The fact that Ray didn't make a commitment yesterday is huge, and I think the C's should now be viewed as favorites to retain him. He'll spend the rest of his time thinking about the decision in Boston, and will probably give Ainge an option to sweeten the pot, if those are his demands. I think he comes back at 2/12 or 3/17 with a NTC. In my eyes, the biggest danger zone was last night, with Ray getting caught up in the moment and just making a decision.

Honestly...given the way this roster is currently built, I am inclined to say fuck it and give him the NTC This team has already gone all in anyway for the next 3 years. Once 3 years is over, complete rebuild around Rondo looks like the only option.

Rondo's contract expires in 2015, at which point he will be worth more to a contender than to the Celtics. There will be a complete rebuild at some point, but who knows who it will be around...

I thought the 3-year window opened in 2008, but it turned out to be a 5-year window - so far. Ainge apparently believes it's worth an 8-year window with the current team. Garnett's return to athletic form in 2012 gave plenty of reasons to think that he'll age well.

Bruce Arthur (@bruce_arthur) just casually mentioned that Ray signed with Miami.

He picked the Heat, according to Mickey Arison's twitter.

Yup.

This is kind of sad. I really didn't expect this.

Ray Allen has informed Boston that he has decided to sign with Miami, league source tells Y! Sports.

Puts together a shit postseason then tucks his tail between his legs and runs. Fuck off.

I don't care how disingenuous that is, I'm running with it. I am, at least, pretty ecstatic that Doc will have to rip "Stand around for 20 seconds waiting for Ray to get open and heaving up a wild shot at the buzzer because he can't get separation" out of the playbook.

Use the money for Krstic, we need a big more than we need Ray anyway.

Now I have to hate Ray Allen. Lovely.

The good news is he really can't be better than what the Heat got in the playoffs anyway.

Thanks for the memories but this move is weak. He runs off to Miami rather than taking a fair offer in Boston to try to beat them.

Going to miss his ability to seemingly always drill the late game 3.

This one stings bad. Here's to Avery locking him down and Terry out shooting him in the ECF.

Waaah waaah waaah. Ray Allen is old and will probably continue to decline next year at both ends. Whatever. Loved him while he was here but he wants to stay close to home, play for the defending champs and try to go out a winner. I get it. Good luck. Time to move on.
