Pitching is starting to get a little thin. Can't afford to waste starts from guys like Nova, Hughes and Kuroda. More clutch hitting, please.

NY is going to take out the front row of seats in RF for this series and replace them with a wooden board that Swisher can stand on to try to catch Dunn's HRs. Maybe a pogo stick, too.

I'm excited. Youks available on WGN and MLBN. Quandary: whom do I loathe less, Hawk or Kaye? Tough one.

Martin's back has stiffened up again, so Stewart's back in:

Jeter SS
Granderson CF
A-Rod DH
Cano 2B
Teixeira 1B
Swisher RF
Ibanez LF
Chavez 3B
Stewart C

What a difference between the two feeds. The WGN feed has lots more crowd noise. When you switch to YES, it's almost quiet around the voices in the booth.

It's hard rooting for A.J. Pierzynski....

The problem with late Boston games: I'm listening to Sterling and Waldman on WCBS.

Nice play by Youkilis to end the Y's bases-loaded threat.

Their lineup is tough up and down, their 8/9 hitters each hit the ball 400 feet to dead center first time up.

Cano!

Soriano isn't available tonight except in emergency, but the rest of the pen is pretty well rested.

I was wondering how long it would take YES to figure out that Jeter tied Ripken with that hit, definitely longer than it should have.

Not much of a fan of O'Neill or Piniella separately, but together they're pretty good. They definitely each know a lot about hitting, and they bring it out of each other.

Eppley against Konerko/Rios, I do not think this will end well. The only other real option is Robertson for 4 outs, though, so fingers crossed.

Before yesterday he last pitched on 6/24. Still not available back-to-back? Is he actually healthy? This can't be good.

Now Rapada for Pierzynski, and presumably Robertson after that? Why not just give him the inning to start?

He must not be available - no way even Girardi would do that.

I just typed that. Now Robertson is up. Wow Joe.

This was managing at it's finest, folks. Skate on thin ice only to bring in Robertson anyway. Can't wait for post game comments.

Yes, and he pitched four out of five days, he could probably use two days off.

Girardi said he was just being cautious with Robertson because of the injury and pitching back to back games. Wanted to mix and match instead of giving him a clean inning.
