Castro notwithstanding (and unlikely, given the Red Sox' overinvestment in the position, with Aviles, Iglesias, Vinicio and Marrero lined up), why should the Red Sox bring in Dempster? Poor and declining velocity, overdependence on the slider, and a move from the NL weakest to the AL strongest -- why would this be a good idea?
I presume that Cherington is lending his co-bidder to Theo to raise the asking price from the Dodgers.

No one was trying to say for the Red Sox to try get Castro, they were talking about Iglesias being a trading chip.
Also the point was made trying to get Garza instead old man Dempster.
