Cody Ross starts his rehab on Friday with the Pawsox and hopes to be activated off the DL on Tuesday.

"Daniel Nava took some swings for the first time since straining the top of his left hand. He has been out of the lineup for four games. “It’s getting a lot better,’’ said Nava, who had a cortisone shot Sunday. “The day off will help me, and I should be able to play on Friday.’’

Aaron Cook is "close to being ready for a rehabilitation assignment." Um, yipee?

Also, the Red Sox are ready to pay money to make sure Blobby Jinx never comes back.

According to the little picture paper, Jacoby Ellsbury "will report to Fort Myers to continue his rehab from a partially dislocated shoulder. Carl Crawford, meanwhile, will travel with the team to Chicago and continue his throwing program under the supervision of the training staff and assistant pitching coach Randy Niemann."

Also, Ryan Sweeney is battling a sore toe, and Kevin Youkilis is "rotationally restricted" and might have had x-rays after his HBP the other night.
