Hard to understate just how well Bradley, and, to a lesser extent, Shaw and Bogaerts are playing relative to their competition. Among hitters who are 22 or younger in the Carolina league, they are 1, 2 and 3 in OPS, and 1, 3 and 9 overall. That's sick. I really hope that they promote the three of them to Portland sometime after the All Star Break next week. It's not like Ryan Dent should be holding up XMan or they couldn't move Reynaldo Rodriguez to DH for Shaw or turn Hazelbaker into the 4th OF.
Bogaerts isn't ready to play in AA. He needs to refine plate discipline. But I agree about Bradley and Shaw being promoted right now.

SEADOGS
Game Story
He began the year on the disabled list with a groin strain and since joining the team last month, he has not looked like one of the top prospects in the Boston Red Sox organization.
The low point may have come Wednesday night when he lasted just three innings in a 7-0 loss to the Bowie Baysox at Prince George's Stadium.
Ranaudo, making his sixth start, left after 66 pitches, giving up four runs, one earned, and three walks in the third.
It was the shortest outing of the season for Ranaudo, the 39th overall pick in 2010 who has a 5.53 ERA.
"He lost command of the zone," said Portland Manager Kevin Boles. "A lot of the damage was self-induced on our part. We love his arm. It looks like he got uncomfortable once he was in the stretch."
The Sea Dogs couldn't do much with Zach Clark of Bowie, who struck out a season-high seven in seven shutout innings.
"He was sinking the ball. He was running a two-seamer up there and it was tough," said Zach Gentile, who was hitless in three at-bats.
Nick Natoli, who made two outs with a walk against Clark, said, "He was just able to get ahead in the count. It's kind of frustrating."
Ranaudo walked three straight in the third, with walks to Buck Britton and Rhyne Hughes coming with the bases loaded to give Bowie a 2-0 lead. Robbie Widlansky followed with a sacrifice fly, then Manny Machado singled to right to drive in another run to make it 4-0.
Brian Ward, who scored the first run, had an infield single to start the inning and went to second when Portland first baseman Reynaldo Rodriguez made a bad toss to Ranaudo on a bunt by Travis Adair.
"It was a well-placed bunt. We tried to make a play and it just did not happen," Boles said.
After allowing one run in five innings June 8 against Richmond, Ranaudo retired the first six batters before Bowie batted around in the third.
SALEM
Game Story
Xander Bogaerts hit a bases-loaded single with two outs in the top of the seventh inning to lift the Salem Red Sox to a 3-2 Carolina League win over Wilmington in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday.
Travis Shaw provided all the offense the Sox would need to win the second game 3-0, hitting a solo homer and driving in two runs with a double.
Salem didn't gain any ground in the Southern Division race with the doubleheader sweep. The Sox remain three games behind Winston-Salem with four days left in the first half. The Dash swept two games with Potomac on Wednesday.
Keith Couch and Michel Olmsted combined to shut out the Blue Rocks in Game 2.
In the first game, catcher Chris Vazquez hit a solo homer for the Sox in the fourth inning, but Salem was down 2-1 going into the seventh.
Jackie Bradley Jr. drew a one-out walk in the Salem ninth. Shannon Wilkerson bunted Bradley over, but third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert misplayed the ball and Wilkerson was safe, too
Reliever Nick Rogers came in for Chase Boruff, then Bradley and Wilkerson worked a double steal.
Shaw struck out, and Rogers intentionally walked Brandon Jacobs to load the bases.
Bogaerts then singled to right to plate Bradley and Wilkerson for the 3-2 Salem lead.
DRIVE
Game Story
Standout pitching made two early runs stand up as the Drive beat Asheville 2-1 before 4,577 at Fluor Field Wednesday night.
The Drive salvaged a win in the three-game home series with the Tourists, who clinched the first-half South Division title nonetheless. The victory also ended the Drive’s losing streak at four games.
“Good pitching, good defense, and clutch hitting,” Drive manager Carlos Febles said. “Those are the kind of games that sometimes get you going.”
Henry Owens (7-2), Greenville’s starting pitcher, delivered a strong performance. He struck out eight in five-plus and allowed two hits and one run.
About Owens, Febles said, “It seems like he has a different mindset. Now he’s pitching. He’s not trying to be too cute. He’s pitching. Tonight, it was working for him.”
“Being a pitcher instead of a thrower” is the adjustment Owens said he is making in pro ball. “In high school, I could just reach back and throw it by guys. Out here you’ve got to make pitches. Every pitch counts.”
The Drive received solid relief pitching from Matty Ott (two-plus innings) and Tyler Lockwood (fifth save).
Asheville’s Ben Alsup (7-2) also threw well, going seven and allowing two runs. Both of Alsup’s losses this season have come against Greenville in Fluor Field.
Greenville (32-33) generated its early runs with station-to-station baseball. In the first, Jason Repko singled and moved to second on a ground out. He beat the throw home to score on David Renfroe’s single to left.
The Drive added a run an inning later without getting the ball out of the infield. Henry Ramos led off with an infield hit. Back-to-back groundouts advanced him to third. Jose Vinicio beat out a slow roller to second for a single, driving in Ramos.
Asheville (45-21) followed a similar formula in the fourth to cut the Greenville lead to 2-1. A double, stolen base, and a wild pitch led to the run.
Repko, whom the Red Sox sent to Greenville on a rehab assignment, played his first innings in the field and left after the fifth. He will stay with the team a few more days. He will accompany the Drive to Augusta where they play five games in the next four days against the GreenJackets.

Will have to take your word for it on Bogaerts. He's already aggressively promoted, so it'd be no shame if he stuck around A+ for the full year. But in June he has walked 7 times in 60 PAs, so he's drawing walks. His 25% K rate in June is too high, so I can see where you're coming from, but if he puts up another 4-6 weeks like June has been, he won't have much more to prove. I'm all about pushing star talents like him to the limit and seeing whether they can handle it. He's barely ever seen adversity when on the diamond, so tossing him in the deep end could provide some valuable lessons.Bogaerts isn't ready to play in AA. He needs to refine plate discipline. But I agree about Bradley and Shaw being promoted right now.

Bradley is one of the smallest looking guys out there - skinny and he looks like he is about 150% muscle under his baggy pants. He has a great approach at the plate - he walked in both plate appearances I saw and made the pitcher work - no chasing on anything even close to out of the zone; he exudes patience up there. Only two balls were hit to him while I was there, and both pretty routine.
Jacobs reminded me, in demeanor, of Manny. He looked utterly disinterested out there - he made a throw into home from left at one point and had turned his back to walk back to his position before the ump even called time out after the play (it was a lousy throw, so maybe he was ticked off). I am not at all saying he is disinterested, just that he presented as such. He also stung the hell out of a ball, but it was right at the center fielder so went for naught. He has a nice stroke, though, and looks like a guy who could be a starting running back somewhere.
Xander looks incredibly young...tall, wiry frame, looks like he can't even grow good facial hair yet. He almost made two outstanding plays in the field - one up the middle that he had no business getting to, but did (and it looked effortless) and made a nice throw - runner beat it by a hair. The other play was to his right, deep in the hole. Again, he had no business getting a glove on the ball, but he dove, snagged it, popped up and slipped backwards onto his butt on the wet grass without making a throw. It was quite amusing and he was clearly embarrassed. I dare say he reminded me of Hanley when he was a young prospect (I saw him a few times before he was traded).
Shannon Wilkerson also looked pretty good out there. Nice swing, very athletic looking. This team's position players are a pretty exciting group to watch, that's for sure.
