I haven't slept despite taking some of my wife's narcotics in an attempt to do so.

I am tired and cranky.

If you think I am a crusty sonofabitch normally, tired and cranky Ras may just be a revelation to you all.

Also, fuck baseball, fuck Miami, fuck the Marlins, fuck that monstrosity.

But hey, this winning thing hasn't been all the good to us lately so what say we lose?

Another tough pitcher foe in Mark Buehrle. Clay needs to be on again. Nolasco tomorrow. Nowadays, every major league pitcher seems like a big obstacle.

I remember that time -- 14 months ago -- when ESPN polled its 45 baseball writers and broadcasters and 42 of them picked us win the AL and 33 of those to win the World Series (with the others mostly liking the Phillies rotation). And that was before Ellsbury became MVP-like. Absurd landslide poll results, but more or less predicated on the supposition that Gonzo, Crawford and our starting pitchers, even Lackey, would be pretty much the same guys they'd been all their careers.

As opposed to be god-awful. WTF has happened? (That's rhetorical.)

Even better, McKeon got all bitchy after the 14 run 1st, 25-8 hammering and how unprofessional it was to run up the score. The next day the Sox are up 9-2 in the 8th and LOSE 10-9. Of course, stars align for the Marlins from there on.

Dicking around the FA pool in a fantasy league, I notice this guy's got a 2.88 ERA, 1.14 WHIP over the past 30. And a 26/9 K/BB!

Who is this glorious specimen so readily available for me to snatch up?

Clay Buchholz, of course!

Passed ball or WP (not sure which) but it rolled away from the catcher to the right side of home plate, quite far away. Adrian was on first but stood there. I think he had a clear view of the ball and would have easily taken second but did not even attempt to try. This was in the 9th after he got on with his first walk in over 100 PA against Heath Bell.

EDIT: They were down 4-1 at that point, obviously the score doesn't matter it was more the mental lapse but just pointing it out .

I was at that second game, SRO on the monster. Juan Pierre made a diving catch in center and doubled up Varitek at second to end the game. I was sad.

9. Clint Barmes ® SS

I was referring to the walk in a sarcastic tone. Like it happened by accident, just standing there. However, you are right about the WP and not taking second. Maybe he was blocked, I dunno. But didn't look like he saw it and just stood there at first. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because he was surprised to be at first after a walk anyway! Gonzo will bounce back today.

Best power hitter on the bench and we can't string enough singles together from the rest of that lineup. You never know but hard to get pumped about that. Hate inter league. Nava still hurt with the mystery hand injury. Have fun at the game gatorgurl67 and enjoy the Cuban sandwiches!!

The longest and hardest hit homerun I've ever seen was hit by Mike Stanton at a spring training game last year.

It was only spring but it was the last week of camp and Buchholz was not ready for the season ahead. Pitch around him Clay because Giancarlo will be drooling. Win this game and then the series on Wednesday because you can.

Yeah. But no one ever came out and said how he injured his thumb/hand. Just something happened before the game on Saturday. Other than that, it's Top Secret.

Now this is true. Especially the thumb/hand bit since everyone has said a different body part. Maybe he has a concussion?

Soon the Sox should just take a book out of the hockey playbook and say "upper body injury".
