Both Nova and Delgado have been up and down this year, but both pitched the best game of their short careers last time out. Both teams are hot, NY has won 13 of 17 and ATL won 6 in a row before losing yesterday. The NY rotation overall has an impressive 1.95 ERA in June so far (9 games).

Yanks are 9-2 in games Nova starts, making them two over .500 with everyone else.

ATL is 0-8 on Mondays, 34-18 otherwise. They want to shoo-oo-oo-oot the whole day down.

I'm guessing you're not a big fan of Karen Carpenter.

Keep up the good work, though. First Yankees sweep in awhile. Just four on the season, including the two-gamer in Boston back in April.

Sabathia vs. Minor. Good lord that's some kind of uneven matchup.

Lot of Yankee fans at the game tonight. Big cheer for Cano's RBI single.

Ibanez homers to right leading off the second.

Someone tell Sterling and Waldman that AL pitchers can hit and not get hurt. And that Wang could just as easily hurt himself shagging fly balls during batting practice, as he did hurting himself running the bases.

Bases loaded alert for Yanks in third with one out and Ibanez up. Yankee fans, look away.

Nice baserunning by A-Rod this inning, going from first to third on a single to center very aggressively and then barely scoring on a wild pitch that didn't get too far away from McCann.

And, yes, of course, NY can't get a hit with the bases loaded again.

Nice play by Nova and Tex! ATL is hitting some hard balls so far that have found gloves, hopefully Nova settles down a bit.

Dear Joe, give Soriano an off-day and let the no-names finish this one off..

Or overthink it and use everyone, despite having a three-run lead.

Soriano's obviously getting a rest. I think Mo is sitting around tonight, proud of his bullpen buddies for the job they have done. Surgery tomorrow for Rivera. Good luck to the GOAT and get back next year. Even though this bullpen has done well, Mo made rooting easier with his no-sweat save technique.

Robertson is of course much missed also, but the rotation continues to be incredible, all four non-CC starters with sub-2 ERAs in June now.

1-8 with RISP again, the one hit Cano's single in the first. It's getting to the point where opponents might be better off asking for women's softball extra innings rules and putting runners at first and second to start each inning, that would cut down on pitch counts and have the same end result on the scoreboard.

Tied for first for the first time since April 24 and 10 games over .500 for the first time this year, 14-4 since dropping to 21-21. Whoot.

Soriano unavailable due to a blister, thinks he'll be OK for tomorrow, that's why he was walking around the pen a bit in the 7th. A complete game from CC would be welcome tomorrow, everyone besides Phelps and Garcia has been worked hard recently.

The starting pitching this month has been awesome, ERA around 1.70.
Swisher robbing McCann of two-run homer was big.
Glad to hear Soriano is okay. Robertson due back Friday if final rehab inning Tuesday goes well.

Best defensive game overall of the year that I can remember, those early DPs helped a lot too.
