I'd have preferred the symmetry (or whatever) if Anibal Sanchez was going for the Marlins tonight, but Josh facing Hanley Ramirez will have to do.
On Mike Lowell Under-Appreciation Night in Miami.

Give Gonzo some rest. He's probably our most valuable player, and he's got to be pressing. Playing NL-rules is the perfect time to give him some time to relax and get his shit straight.
I agree. Just sit him for at least one game.
Rafa won and I consider that a good sign of things to come. JFB for stopper. Fuck Ozzie's shit up.

So what's the news on Nava?
Haven't heard anything today but he got a cortisone shot yesterday, so it probably doesn't look good if he isn't in the lineup.

can we please hurry up and trade Youk, and or send down Middlebrooks.
Josh Johnson has a nasty slider that is his second most thrown pitch, WMB has had serious issues with sliders, no issues at all with this.
Abraham did write today about a Youk trade, "virtually certain according to sources."

Eh, the reason the lineup looks like this today is so that Ortiz can play. This would happen with or without Middlebrooks on the roster.

A cortisone shot can leave you pretty sore the next day sometimes. I wouldn't read much into it just yet. If he's still not playing by Wednesday, you might want to crack a sweat. Maybe.

That lineup tonight looks like a lot of small ball. Not a whole lot of fear or pop outside of Papi. Some cold hitters struggling. Surprise The Nation tonight fellas, win big.
Dave Edmunds and I are on board with the small ball concept.

Or, you know, WMB would be starting if Youk were traded ...

In my defense, the original poster was advocating trading Youks or demoting WMB.

Could you clarify the following, then?
can we please hurry up and trade Youk, and or send down Middlebrooks.
As an aside, I'm really stoked after just learning that the multiquote feature will lay the quotes you select out in the order you click on them, not the order they were posted in.

I think that depends on how well he plays between now and when he's traded. His body of work before getting injured last year was that of an elite hitter and a solid defender at 3rd/elite defender at 1st. If he can be something near that for a month, the haul will go up considerably. If not, probably not much.
I mostly agree, but the 6.5MM (call it 6 for a half-year rental) seems pretty inhibiting to me, and I fear that the part of your reply I bolded (what the hell kind of verb is that?) is increasingly unlikely.

Damn! No matter how much or often we have discussed this for the past several weeks, we simply cannot drive up Youk's value to an attractive level (I know - whatever that is) unless he plays and performs well as deep in the season as the deadline. How about this - just keep him out of the entire AL, to lessen the coming back to haunt us factor?
Better marketing is needed.

You may be onto something. When WMB came up, there were a load of Wally Pipp references floating around. The following are cut from Wally Pipp's bio
In addition to his batting exploits, Pipp was one of the finest defensive first basemen of the Deadball Era; in 1915, he led all American League first basemen in putouts, assists, double plays, and fielding percentage.
The Yanks tried to trade him to several American League clubs, but couldn't come to terms with any of them. So, after asking and getting waivers on him, they sold Pipp to the National League's Cincinnati Reds. The Reds, still badly in need of a first baseman more than a year after the untimely death of Jake Daubert,, paid what was said to be much more than the $7,500 waiver price.

Daniel Bard will pitch in relief for Pawtucket tonight. The idea is for him to try and get an adrenalin rush. Bard seems to think that will help.
