Mata cant get a minute of action due to the need to bring on Navas to pointlessly run down the right flank and create nothing
Navas pointlessly runs down the right and into the penalty area where he taps in from a pass by Iniesta.
Ever thought of being a manager?

Tap-ins are definitely the sign of a players worth, Mata doesn't have the sill to score that goal I stand corrected

Could someone more knowledgeable than I (a low standard) explain why Spain's goal wasn't an offsides? From the looks of the replay (see around 1:45), I thought Ramos was past the last defender as the ball was passed to Iniesta.
I think you're referring to Navas, who was indeed in an offside position when Xavi played the ball to Iniesta, who was onside. However, at that point Navas was not "interfering with play" (he did not touch the ball) and he did not "gain an advantage from being in an offside position" in that he did not play the ball after it had rebounded off anyone. By the time Iniesta played the ball to Navas, Navas was behind the ball and no longer in an offside position.

At the time, I was yelling at my monitor at work "wait, that's offsides! that's why all the defenders and goalie stopped!". Guess they were just begging for (expecting?) a call.

Denmark didn't muster a single goal, so at least the Irish avoided the distinction of being the "worst Euros entrant ever."

Another quick note--it's not the "last defender" that brings about the offside, it's actually the second to last defender, however this includes the keeper. There was a play in the World Cup where the keeper had come out to punch the ball away and when the ball was played back in there was one defender on the goal line and that made the offensive player the ball was played to offside as the keeper had not yet recovered.
A player is in an offside position if:
• he is nearer to his opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second last opponent

First of all, I really don't like Busquets, even though Del Bosque heaps all sort of praise on him. He committed a blatant foul today that should have been called. He is a dirty player.
Second, I am not enjoying this double pivot system. I think Del Bosque is going with his boys, which is certainly fine because they win as a team, but I would like to see more time for some combination of Mata, Llorente, and Cazorla.
And I know Torres scored two goals against Ireland, but, come on, it was Ireland. I still doubt his play at his current form.
