Yeah, I watch and think my son's U15 team could at least have some shots on goal.

Germany should have at least 3 goals right now. They are playing some titillating football around the box. Good last chance defending from Denmark I suppose, but there have been some very good chances.

Schürrle on for Podolski. Excited to see what he can do. I thought this was Poldi's best game because he had much more freedom to attack today. Obviously, he had the nice goal, but he had some good chances and some good build up play. I liked what I saw from Schürrle in the friendly against Switzerland.

That would take a certain amount of chutzpah considering the last time the Germans were in this situation they elected Hitler.

This will be an awesome occasion. If Greece don't come out and play like 11 men possessed their assets should be confiscated and their citizenship stripped.

Honestly, I kinda think this might be a really violent game for the supporters. German citizens on the whole, as far as I know, are not very happy about bailing Greece out to save the EU.

Konrad Adenauer says, "Grüß dich!"

I thought about that but the Marshall Plan involved a certain amount of magnanimity that the Germans aren't offering. What's happening now with a broken state being told to go fuck itself with people committing suicide and dumpster diving for food is more like what Adenauer would face if he sat down in 1946 with a bunch of people who agreed with Henry Morgenthau.

This is the likeliest sporting event to match the blood in the water USSR-Hungary water polo match from the 1956 Olympics in a long time. The Greek players and fans should be off the charts intense about playing Germany. I'd hope so anyway. The Germans get to go back to Germany, the Greeks to an unholy mess.

I dislike Ronaldo quite a bit (despite recognizing his generational talents), but big ups to him for his team getting through. If they were going to advance, he had to be the best player on the pitch, and he was essentially that today. Between this and the La Liga title...

so i guess you´ll be sitting there, dick in hand, waiting for the bloodshed, you dumb little rubbernecking cunt.

only for assholes like you this whole EU mess is about the greek people vs the german people, when in reality it is about the greek bourgeoisie and the german bourgeoisie fucking people in the arse.

i fear we will read a lot of drivel like yours until friday.

that said, the greek team is the last team i wanted us to play in the quarterfinals. i love them, their intensity and their brand of football since the days of könig otto, and i think it will be hard for us to beat them (especially if gomez is playing).

and with all their political and economical suffering i´d actually root for them to beat evil germany and win the title.

but since i´m a german nationalist pig footballwise, of course i hope we´ll win. which we will do, barely.

Carl, I apologize for getting ahead of myself and making it a German people vs. Greek people thing, although I think the Greeks will very much be motivating themselves by making it about playing 11 Merkels on the pitch. Or they should, because they won't beat them through talent. Koening Otto is not walking through that door.
