A Danish win here and the group is wide open. Danes underwhelmed in 2010 but I still can't forget how amazing they were in 1986 (I don't know if the Euros were on TV in America in 1992)

Not sure if the danes have improved since 2010. I want a dutch win with RVP getting a couple or a close one where Klaas Jan Huntelaar gets the winner which propels him into the Marco van Basten role in 1988.

I'll go with the 24th minute for the inevitable van Bommel booking.

I have the 8th minute the first time Robben looks at a ref with disgust with his hands out after he rockets a shot with 2 guys on him about 9 yards wide of the goal

Not having watched much Danish soccer, are they usually a team that packs back on D or the the Dutch just controlling the game that much?

Ohhhh I see, they just really like the counter-attack

Instead of the van Bommel booking I got a Danish goal for the 24th minute. Fair swap.

Robben hit the post, but he should have laid off to the wide open Van Persie. The Dutch don't seem to be moving well without the ball right now. A lot of reliance on individuals right now. When they play together, they're unstoppable.

You know, I'm going to say it...Arjen Robben is incredibly skilled, but he fucking sucks. He's been so selfish in every single big game I've seen him in, that if I was van Marwijk I would consider putting van Persie wide, and starting Huntelaar up top over Robben.

What an asshole he plays like. He's like watching Ricky Davis play if instead of the underlying threat of violence there was a stupid fucking premature receding hairline.

Is it possible for holland's defense to be worse than advertised? I don't have a problem with Robben taking that shot. He had it on his left foot and tried to pull a quick trigger after the interception. No idea what the Danes goalie was thinking on that clear.

RvP should've converted that chance.

I feel like the movement has been really poor since the goal. You can't just expect to score. I don't know if they're disheartened by the score line or what, but that was utter shit following the goal. You can't expect Afellay or Robben to dribble through 3 or 4 defenders to create a chance every time. I don't make any changes at the half, but I expect to see something from the players soon or I bring on a Huntelaar or VdV.

I don't think Van Persie on the wing is smart solution. While he can play out there, he's probably one of your better play makers and he should be in the middle where he can be more influential. On the wing, he'll be less impactful. He doesn't have the pace.

Man, this weak defense makes everything so complicated.

I think I prefer Curt Menefee to Bob Ley in the position of "hosts who know nothing about soccer" At least Menefee seems excited to be at the party, even if he's not quite sure what the party is about.

Nice to see they unearthed Roberto Martinez, though.

He was going to shoot no matter what.

Totally agree, seems like people jump down Robben's throat at this point any time he does something that could be perceived as selfish. Plus, with the touches Van Persie's been putting on the ball today, he might be having flashbacks to Gomez's terrible touches in the last two rounds of the UEFA.

It wasn't the shot itself, which was fine. It was that he played a 3 on 2 into a 3 on 4 by refusing to make the obvious first pass to the best scorer on his team ahead of him, instead choosing to dribble into that same space to create a small window for his left footed shot. Once he passed on making the pass, the shot is OK, but he's got to play RvP forward there and get on his horse for the return pass.

He actually uses his right foot and it's an easy tap in. I'm continually amazed by how many top players are so one footed.

You're right about that. If he connected I don't think we would be questioning the decision though. He probably thought quick interception, on left foot, quick shot, rather that waiting to see if something better set up. I'm ok with that. They're down and panicking a bit.

If Rondo played soccer, he would have made the better look.

It's not about being one footed so much as being more comfortable with your dominant foot. I think Van Persie has a pretty decent right foot for a guy with a brilliant left foot.

Van Persie getting into good positions...Bendtnering them.

Whatever the reason, his refusal to use his right foot there cost the Dutch a golden scoring chance.

I'd find it much easier to root for the Dutch if they changed the number font on the back of their shirts. I think they peaked in 74. Robben is a cunt. He just exudes cuntyness.
I hate Bendnter too. These teams should never have been drawn together - it doesn't work.

To be honest, I'm not that worried. It could have been 5-3 by now. I'm suspecting this is all part of the plan to have both Germany as well as the corkturks exit in the group stage.

Oh I'm sure his off foot will always and forever be better than my dominant foot, and without a doubt he is more comfortable with the left. But as the top striker on a FIFA top 10 team, that should be taken with his right foot, not the awkward cross body outside of foot trap he tried. And mannnyyy top players do this, it's natural, I just am surprised that in all their years of training the off foot is still so out of favor.

He cost [Arsenal] a game against Chelsea because he pulled the same shit. If he had used his right foot, we'd have won 1-0.

They're not winning balls back easily and they're not keeping possession. May be VdV for Robben and then Huntelaar in for De Jong?

67th minute for the yellow card.
