OK, so the opening ceremony is par for the course: currently a guy playing a pebbled-and-smooth pleather piano as people run on a teal tarp.

If you'd like something different: I'm no fan of Martin Samuel, but he does bring up some interesting points (without answering them) about football and Auschwitz: http://www.dailymail...ight-thing.html

I'd say the best way to break this down the game threading is to split it for the Group Stage, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Finals or something like that.

The best part about this opening ceremony so far has been the dubstep vs piano. Looking forward to seeing Woj in action.

Fightin' Kilbasis 1-0 in this one. It will be interesting to see if the Greeks go into their shell again for this tourney.

Also, if I were Greek, I would be wearing a Spartan helmet like that dude they showed in the stands.

Lewandowski with a deserved goal. Greece looks creakier than they did in 2010.

Borussia Poland is peppering Greece so far. I said to mike right before the goal that Greece would be happy not to concede before the half and Poland would need to convert soon. Lewandowski is just clinical. Great to see him carry his great form from Dortmund into this tournament. The Dortmund players down the right hand side have been very effective thus far.

Is it the hair, the stubble or the puppy dog eyes that gets him going or is it the whole package, For me it's always been the hair. He must use a lot of jojoba, you'd think ay?

Former England defender Danny Mills on BBC Radio 5 live:

"That is a very, very harsh second booking. It was the smallest of touches, and the first booking was incredibly harsh. The Greek manager has just shrunk in his chair, shaking his head. He looks like the most miserable man in the world. For me, that's poor refereeing. I really can't tell you how poor those decisions were."

Yeah, neither of them were fouls, let alone card worthy. I'm rooting for Poland, but man, I want fair play. This ref isn't allowing for fair play. 15 reds in 19 La Liga games? How is this guy in a major international competition?

EDIT: Poland were the better side and deserve to be in front. And yes, URI, Samaras is a smelly man.

Just cos he doesn't shower doesn't mean he's not clean. I know for a fact he pays three guys from Shettleston six bottles of mad dog 20/20 and a kilo of lorne sausage to sponge his genitals and oxters before and after matches. No idea about the guys who do his hair,, no one talks about it round here.

This is 10x better than talking about the referees and "fair play". Which is what UEFA wants anyway.

I'm quoting Danny Mills. Not sure if you know who Danny Mills is...he's no Robbie Savage. He's Danny Mills. A man who shoved and lunged and kicked with the best of em. And now he's bald as a coot he's the Ben Kingsley of punditry...dunno if you know who Ben Kingsley is...well he's no...

Alan Hansen on BBC Match Of The Day:

"Everything good about the game has come from Poland. I don't think it would be harsh to call the [Greece] back four useless. The only surprise is that Poland are only 1-0 up. As for the sending off, the second [yellow card] is a bad decision but the first one is crazy."
