Because, quoting Skrub when I asked him if I could start this thread now:

"Yeah, f the rules."

I'm in a hotel room Saturday night.

How bloody great is it that this team is in a do or die game to go to the Finals? They've been counted out a thousand times over and they've weathered a record number of rare heart conditions, but here they are. Now, fans of 29 teams are backing this one to sink the douchiest group of douches in the history of douchedom.

I'm strangely calm about having to beat these MFers in Miami. In fact, in many ways, this is even better. The Heat pain will be that much more intense and the excuses more difficult to mouth. I do feel badly for the Celtics fans who walked into the Garden last night expecting a party, especially for those who traveled long distances to be on site. But other than that, this is good stuff.

Having to listen to Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy for one more game is another story. When is the ambient crowd noise option going to be available?

I plan on avoiding all things ESPN until 11:30, but I'm assuming the Lebron narrative right now is off the charts insane. That's not a knock on him, because every time he comes up short the narrative is off the charts in the other direction.

Still, fuck him and his narrative. I plan to tune in to Sportscenter on Sunday and hear the most overblown shit in the world about how terrible Lebron is.

Please win while I can't watch.

Definitely this.

This thread is about the Celtics. The Celtics are trying to do something that isn't supposed to happen.

What they have already accomplished this season wasn't supposed to happen.

Rules are about what is supposed to happen. This... this is something different.

Game 7.

Either we win or we lose. Whatever the outcome may be, I wouldn't want to root for another group of guys. The best.

Also remember Lebron is only a man, not a god. No hat-tipping.

Fuck him up in the worst possible way. Fuck him up.

Were you looking for the "Hitting Reset" thread?

I doubted these guys after game 2, I doubted them after the first quarter of game 5. The trend will hold. They go down by 10 early, recover, put the fear of God into the royal penis, and win the game going away. Love that KG played relatively short minutes last night.

I loved the 04 Red Sox. I loved the 07 Patriots. But holy shit, I have never had such a strong emotional connection with this a team such as the 2012 Celtic team filled with aging veterans in the twilight of their career wanting to give it one last shot. They aren't the most talented or exciting team, but the passion and heart they play with really inspires me and makes me believe in them even in the bleakest of moments.

They aren't going down this easily to the fucking Heat. They will win this for Boston.

We are not South Beach. I don't know what part of Florida desconstruction is from, but he isn't South Beach either. They have Lebron.

We have this guy.

“It’s for all the marbles. I’m sitting in the house loading up the pump, I’m loading up the Uzis, I’ve got a couple of M-16s, couple of nines, couple of joints with some silencers on them, couple of grenades, got a missile launcher. I’m ready for war.” - Kevin Garnett

Fuck the Heat. Fuck the rules. Let's fucking do this.

Boston Brawler asked me if I had a good time at my first time at the new Garden - while the game was difficult to watch, this...the standing and cheering for the last 5 minutes or so...made the night special. To be fair, quite a few people left early but those that stayed stood on their feet, cheered and clapped.

Regarding tomorrow, if anyone fades the likes of a team featuring KG, Pierce, Allen and Rondo they simply don't understand basketball, guts and what people refer to as heart. That bunch and their compadres have it in spades.

Dale, indeed

Borrowing liberally from Colonel Tim Collins, 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish Regiment:

Those who do not wish to go on this journey, we will not send.
As for the others, I expect you to rock their world.
Wipe them out if that is what they choose.
But if you are ferocious in battle remember to be magnanimous in victory.

The enemy should be in no doubt that we are his nemesis and that we are bringing about his rightful destruction.
There are many referees who have stains on their souls and they are stoking the fires of hell for Lebron.
He and his forces will be destroyed by this coalition for what they have done.
As they die they will know their deeds have brought them to this place. Show them no pity.

Our business now is south.

its not 4 minutes, but this is from someone in the garden, so no announcers

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gxslho0pJo&feature=related

there's at least a couple others on youtube too from other people who were there, not hard to find

I thought the mut and merloni show had a really good montage of it put to music too

Hearing how the Celtic players acknowledged the crowd's send-off chant, and knowing the intensity and professionalism of this Celtics team, I almost like that they will be holed up together as a team in the hotel and arena. I can imagine (and hope) that many Heat players will go back home with the feeling that the job is already done and Game 7 is a given. With our intensity and focus, and so-so Miami crowd atmosphere and team pressure.....well, let's just go and take care of business!

Side note...just went for late night walk on the beach with the Jersey Shore's transplanted palm trees (exiled here for work) and "In The Air Tonight" randomly came on my iPod....just make it Saturday and 8:30pm already!!

The only Laker fan I know is cheering for the Celtics, for the first time in his life. His reason is that he may hate the Celtics, but he at least he respects them.

My Grandmother is 93 and not doing well. She loves watching the Celtics, give a reason to keep watching.

Joey Crawford's continued inexplicable assignment to big games continues. I guess appearing to have control of a game is more important than properly officiating a game.
