Drafting him is a dream? Don't know about that.

I was under the impression he was a guy that was highly likely to be top-20, based on his likely fast-track.

Likely.

Jim Callis is the PC guy in the Mac commercials.

I don't know why I get a kick out of the guy talking about how great of an organization the White Sox have. Obviously it's just a thing you say, but... yeah.

Or, a depressed Bob Sagat. He did crack his first-ever smile on live television this year, though.

Maybe he will take over when Craig Hansen loses our closer job.

Callis does not have a humor tool in the same class as John Hodgman. We're talking 40 - 50 vs. a clear 70 in Hodgman.

I've been pronouncing Cecchini's name wrong all along.

Are they using the proper Italian, Check-eeny?

I know there's value in, if not quite certainty, at least probability. But the Red Sox can always buy good players. Callis just said that Giolito would have quite possibly been the top pick in this draft if he hadn't hurt his elbow (but didn't need surgery) this spring.

Wow, I didn't know this was possible in a nation of people who have zero ability to say "bruschetta" correctly.

The Reds training staff will be receiving trampolines sent from anonymous P.O. boxes in Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Milwaukee and Chicago.

Wow. This Tyler Naquin is fast. MLB network's footage essentially showed him catching the same ball he hit at the right field wall.
That's negro leagues recollections fast!

Based on only what he looked and sounded like, he seemed tailor made to be a NYY.

Yep. Get back on the mound by the all star break 2013 and then tear through the minors. Would have been an absolute steal at 24.

He really needs to go to UCLA. Great coaching staff that has a good track record of producing pitchers under Savage and the Giolito family isn't desperate for money.

edit: The Nats are also in the lower third in bonus pool money at $4.4M.

Underwhelmed by Anthopolous there.....

Although in hindsight, signability and budget not an issue.....so maybe not SO bad.......

Five picks before the Sox and...

Stratton, Wacha, Stroman, Marrero, Gallo, Shaffer all on the board.
Guaranteed at least one of these college guys will be there, if not more.

with Rendon, Meyers, and Purke last year the Nats could punt the pick next year and sign Giolito to big $ and still be stacked for years

Why in the world does Bud feel the need to tell us the location of each college other than -gasp- Miami of Ohio, are there really going to be any confusions about these schools?! Is there another Texas A&M fer chrissakes?!

Kind of like Stanford is in Stanford, CA, not Palo Alto.

Cardinals scare me at 23. I think they'd go with Stroman. Callis' mock today initially had the Cards AND the Sox taking Stroman at 23 and 24. Dude is going to get paid!

No. But there is a Hot Coffee, Mississippi. And a State Line.

And, yes, a University, Mississippi. Which is technically where the University of Mississippi is.
