Big deal. That's a delicacy in your country.
In U.S. and A. they treat horses like we in our cuntry treat our women. They feed them two times a day. They have them sleep on straw in a small box. And for entertainment, they make them jump over fences while being whipped.

Somehow, we're getting along without Pedroia.
It's all because of Nick "The Scrappiest" Punto baby!

If anybody is going to be at Fenway tonight, give some feedback on how Meter does in his guest starring role as The Voice of Fenway Park.
I will do that. I actually won a raffle at work and will be there tonight.
Let's finish off the series with another W, fellers....

Red Sox dominate Scherzer to the tune of a 1.142 OPS. I expect nothing less than 10+ tonight.
If you narrow that down to current players who are likely to face him tonight, it's not quite as impressive (and a bunch of small sample sizes):
PA AB H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS Adrian Gonzalez 13 11 2 0 0 0 1 2 2 .182 .308 .182 .490 David Ortiz 9 8 6 1 0 2 5 1 1 .750 .778 1.625 2.403 Scott Podsednik 9 7 3 0 0 0 0 2 0 .429 .556 .429 .984 Kevin Youkilis 8 7 2 1 0 0 0 1 0 .286 .375 .429 .804 Mike Aviles 7 7 3 1 0 0 3 0 1 .429 .429 .571 1.000 Nick Punto 5 3 0 0 0 0 1 1 0 .000 .200 .000 .200 Ryan Sweeney 5 5 1 0 0 0 0 0 2 .200 .200 .200 .400 Marlon Byrd 3 2 1 1 0 0 1 0 1 .500 .667 1.000 1.667 Jarrod Saltalamacchia 3 3 2 0 0 0 0 0 1 .667 .667 .667 1.333 Total 77 65 22 4 0 3 13 7 11 .338 .421 .538 .960
Has not faced: Will Middlebrooks and Daniel Nava

I expect a big night from Papi though!
On the other side, Fielder is 3 for 6 vs. Beckett with 3 HR and 2 K. No BB yet, but I'd be fine with 3 or 4 tonight.

I think those stats mostly come from Beckett's 1st start, where he couldn't do anything and Fielder and Cabrera feasted on that.
And we have a lineup:
Podsednik
Nava
Adrian Gonzalez
Ortiz
Youks
Salty
Sweeney
Aviles
Punto
Not too crazy about it. Podsednik already leading off, that took longer than expected (and he has not been that horrible anyway).

Will Middlebrooks is practicing double-play turns from SS with Punto and Aviles. Interesting.
I don't know how I feel about that..... I know he was once a SS, but there are injury concerns right?

Radical A.) Youk at 3B, WMB at SS, Aviles at 2B, Gonzo at 1B
vs.
Safer B.) Youk at 1B, WMB at 3B, Aviles at SS, Punto at 2B and Gonzo in RF
Offensively, A. wins because Punto's out for anyone playing RF.
Defensively? Only drawback to B is Gonzo in RF. Drawbacks to A are Youk, WMB and Aviles out of best position (though not huge minuses), and one + with Gonzo at first.
I'd say stick with B, not least of all because we're gonna want to get Gonzo practice in RF anyway for interleague and a theoretical WS so Papi can play.

C) Youk at 3B, Aviles at SS, Punto at 2B, and Gonzalez at 1B, Sweeny in RF.
That's a pretty big offensive downgrade, basically exchanging Punto for WMB, but probably the best defensive arrangement. I for one am happy to see they are at least giving WMB him some practice at SS and exploring all options.

WMB at SS, eh? Compare the scenarios.
Bobby V played mostly infield when in the majors, including SS, so maybe he can do some coaching up with the rook.

Why do people immediately assume increased injury risk when a player moves to a new position? It seems especially hasty with a young athletic player like Middlebrooks. I'd hazard a guess that Gonzalez in right is far more likely to get hurt than Middlebrooks at short based on age and athleticism alone. Nevermind that Middlebrooks has played SS more recently than Gonzalez is likely to have put any significant time in at right field.
If Middlebrooks can play passable defense at short, I'd rather see Youk, Middlebrooks, Aviles, Gonzalez than Youk, Aviles, Punto, Gonzalez or even Middlebrooks, Aviles, Punto, Youk with Gonzalez in right. In both of the latter options, Punto is displacing a much better hitter.

Bobby V is doing a great job managing this team, especially with $100 million on the DL.

Put the players (particularly the pitchers) in situations where it is easy to succeed? That's all a manager can do, the players still have to play. What has he done? The players have done stuff, but what has he done?

Yeah, sure, why not?
I hope JFB is angry (at them) and out to avenge his first start. Oh, and plunk Gerald La(i)rd... that guys a douche.
Wouldn't mind seeing WMB at short if it gets his bat in the lineup, especially over Punto...
7 LHH tonight against Scherzer. Should be a short night for Max.
Let's hope
